Jermaine O’Neal will start his All-Star weekend with an appearance Thursday on The Late Show with David Letterman. The program is scheduled to air at 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

“Obviously, Letterman is somewhat connected to the Pacers and Jermaine is one of their stars,” said NBA Senior Manager of Basketball Communications Brian Flinn.

Letterman is a native of Indianapolis and graduated from Ball State University in 1969. O’Neal will be Letterman’s second guest on the show, which is being headlined by comedic actor Bill Murray.

With Dave being an Indiana Pacers fan, I definitely wanted to get a Pacer on the show, said Late Show producer Darren Demetrio. “Jermaine’s an All-Star and he’s shown that he’s a good guy. We thought he’d bring something new to the show after having Reggie Miller on several times.”

O’Neal will fly to New York to tape the show Thursday afternoon before heading to Los Angeles for the 2004 NBA All-Star Weekend. The All-Star Game is set for 8:00 p.m. (EST) Sunday from the Staples Center.
