Anyone know a website that lists all or most of the apartments in the SA area?

Looking for something possibly in April, or October or November.

I don't remember anyone saying there was to be no trolls in the Club.

I even asked Kori about it. But I do know that they, the trolls, get on your nerves and are annoying but then they wouldn't be trolls.

I'll shut my pie-hole now.

And I wasn't trying to be annoying. :)

I work in the business, and before you lease ANYWHERE, go to Apartmentratings.com.
This is a place where tenants go to give their opinion on the property. What side of town are you looking to move to?

Im pretty close to quitting the family business, and going back to college to get my degree in radio broadcasting.

Ive also stumbled onto a sales deal that looks OK, but will have to do it for a while to see if its good enough to live on.

It really depends on size, location, and age.

But typically, in SA a nice 2 bedroom apartment will run you between $550 and $800 dollars a month.

Like this apartment complex La Jolla.

Not in this area.

And the guy I know who moved in there moved from an apartment on the NW side. He's paying about $100 a month more over here, but he's getting 150 more sq ft. And it's gated (high tech security system) and has a gym and w/d hookups in the apartments, none of which he had at the other place.

It totally depends on location. When we were thinking we'd be back there by this point, we looked at one and two bedrooms on the NE side (closer access to NB and my family) and had some great deals (amenities and sqft) for only about $100 -$150 more than we're paying here for 1 bedrooms and between $150 and $250 more for 2 bedrooms. We're currently grandfathered into $455 a month in Houston, outside the loop in an older/rundown, but still perfectly respectable apartment. That unit now rents for $520, so . . .

Anyhow, it all depends. You can find really nice apartments for $1000 a month or mediocre apartments for way less. You look in the right spots you can find better deals. It all depends on what you are willing to trade on - for me, it was the ability to paint the walls anything but white and cheaper rent vs. living closer or in a newer building that wouldn't let me paint. The painting and cheaper rent won out.

I mean, if you have a gym membership, then you do not need to find a place with a fitness center. Etc. Apartment hunters can be really useful, and while they receive a commission, they also can get special deals for you (free rent, reduced rent, move-in special, etc), so it's worth checking them out.

I know a realtor who rents and leases properties in the Olmos Park/Monte Vista area as well, including apartments that aren't in complexes (guest houses, etc, which are nice because you aren't sharing walls with anyone), you can PM me if you want that number as well.

I was told I did really good on the roundtable, and I think Id do even better on radio, so I think thats what I want to do.

Plus, I dont think there are enough local people doing sports here, and Id like to step up and do it.

Ha, well I can't help you with that. I can vouch for SAC's radio/tv program, though. They just pumped over a million into a new building/studio, and you can get on air there in your first semester - whereas at other colleges, you have to wait a bit. One of the classes gives you your own hour shift (more if you want them) so you can get really comfortable being on the mic.

a little off and on topic: isn't there a general rule of thumb when it comes to buying a house. I thought I remember hearing something about you should not buy a house that costs more than what your salary is over 3 years and you should not buy a car this is more than what you make in a year. I'm looking at houses and cars and want some advice.

It came on the heels of my divorce, from whence I only knew SA through the eyes of Wal-Mart and HEB. Obviously I did not watch the news, enough.

I was just out riding my bicycle. One minute I'm watching an Alamo Heights high school baseball game; the next minute, I was like "whoops!"

I seriously recommend that you find a non bee hive dwelling. I hate apartments for several reasons. Have you noticed the amount of fire damage to said apartments of late?

Look for a reasonable house instead. jmho
