I looked at a story about that. Burj al Arab, which is in Dubai and looks like this:

http://scd.mm-b1.yimg.com/image/484999637

labelled itself a 7-star hotel at one point. Another story says that they advertise as a 5-star hotel these days. No rooms, only suites. Worst accommodations run $1,000/night U.S. They apparently won't allow you to enter the hotel unless you're a guest or have made reservations for tea or dinner.

I made it to 21/33. I'll work on it some more later. My brain hurts.

I've got 22... I question their classification of me as a "Genius" :lol

Edit: Case in point, I miscounted the first time and didn't even see the "counter" at the bottom...

I got to 19!! Woo-hoo!

Wish I had more time to grapple with that.

2Blonde

I was having a really hard time getting it to take #7. I had to type the answer in like 87 million times. I don't know what the problem was.

Dammit, I need to go home... I wish it could save my answers...

I'm missing #10, 14, 26, 28, 29, 30, and 33. And I'm quite positive one or two of those is going to make me go "d'oh, that should have been easy..."

2Blonde

I have a hard time with the ones that have parenthesis. I always save those for last. My mind has a hard time processing those. I guess because it like two thoughts in one phrase and I get tunnel vision.

except for 28 & 29, I am also missing those same ones. But 28 & 29 are somewhat difficult, they aren't d'oh answers.

I somehow got #33 on the first guess. I have to say it's pretty obscure, and I don't know that it's a "d'oh" sort of thing; I did feel flush with some silly pride at getting that one, though.

Damn you people posting your addictive puzzles.

I got 24 on the first go-round, I'm working through the others now.

2Blonde

I'm at 24/33 and I am going to work on it some more today when I get some time.
I'm still missing
#6,14,15,17,24,26,30,31 & 33

2Blonde
01-26-2006, 11:32 AM
Make that 25/33
I had #6 right, I was just having trouble typing it in corectly. But I got it now.

2Blonde

#28 is definitely not a d"oh answer. It's one of the the tougher ones.

Warlord23
01-26-2006, 01:15 PM
Since it seems like the questions are in increasing order of difficulty, I'm pissed that I'm still baffled by nos. 11, 12 and 13. The remaining ones that I haven't got are 22, 24, 29 and 33.

Take heart. If your smart enough to get all those others you will definitely figure those out. Because even a blonde like me figured out 11,12,13,22 and 29. :lol
You've certainly got me beat. :spin

The L

^^ 14 and 31 would probably be difficult for you .. for any American actually ... cuz you wouldn't be familiar with the topic

Jekka

ONE MORE, JUST ONE. #30 sucks.

But at least reading too much and taking a seminar on Sports has come in handy :)

I finally got #14. Probably the one thing I could ever thank my ex-husband for. :lol
But now I'm officially done at 31/33

I left #31 and #33 undone. I went and checked the answers. There is no friggin' way I would have ever gotten those two.

Warlord23
01-26-2006, 01:52 PM
#30 is a weird one ... even as I was typing it I was totally sceptical .. just taking a random shot and it clicked .. once again, think outside America...

Warlord23
01-26-2006, 02:07 PM
Never mind .. I'd misread it as 27 B in the N I instead of "N T" ... my explanation was 27 batters in the ninth inning :lol

"BD" was easier for me to figure out...it was fitting the "L" with it that drove me nuts...
