The Indiana Pacers brought their league leading 12-6 road record into Miami this evening and quickly disposed of the Heat 87-65.

Ron Artest and Jermaine O’Neal led the Pacers with 22 points each as the Pacers held the Heat to just 24 second half points.

The Pacers fell behind early but grabbed hold of the lead and ended the first quarter on top, 25-20 and never looked back.

A late run by the Heat in the second quarter saw the Pacers lead drop to just four points 45-41 at halftime.

In the third quarter an 11-4 run essentially put the game on ice for the Pacers, as they not only seized control of the game but put it out of reach, leading 63-52 at the end of the quarter.

The final quarter was just a continuation of the previous one as the Pacers stifling defense continued to put the clamps on the Heat, holding them to just 9 points with close to 2 minutes remaining in the contest.

For the night, the Pacers shot 41% (28-69) and 82% (23-28) from the free-throw line. Their defense held the Heat to just 33% shooting (25-75) for the night.

Besides scoring 22 points, Jermaine O’Neal also brought down 11 rebounds, giving him another double double, his eighth in a row. Jamaal Tinsley had another solid outing, scoring 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Al Harrington once again led all scorers off the bench with 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Harrington is still wondering whether or not he will receive either a fine or suspension for the altercation that took place Saturday night against the Hornets.

But for now, the Pacers will take their five game winning streak back to Conseco Fieldhouse tomorrow night for another back-to-back game. Awaiting them will be the Orlando Magic. The Pacers haven’t forgotten the last time those two teams met.

On December 17th, the Magic handed the Pacers a devastating 94-90 loss, something the Pacers look to avenge tomorrow.

Game Time Tuesday is at 7pm (EST)
