Im not sure if this is the right place to post this but I was going through the cards I used to collect back when I was in like 3rd grade and found a lot of cards I think might have some value. Maybe someone could give me an idea on what some of these might be worth if youre into this stuff, and share some of the cards you have in your collections. Heres what Ive found so far:

Iverson rookie and college cards
Garnett High School and rookies
Marbury college and rookies
Jermaine O'neal college and rookies
Rasheed Wallace rookie and college
Steve Nash college
Kenyon Martin rookie
Corey Maggette college
Antoine Walker shimmying in his Kentucky days
Brent Barry college
Stephen Jackson rookie
Quentin Richardson rookie
Andre Miller rookie
and a Mark Bryant rookie card...thats the prized one right there

Also I recently purchased a pack and got a Garnett game used jersey piece out of that hoe.

ok i just dugout my cards and heres the best ones in my arsenal:

Tim Duncan, Wake Forest - 1997 The Score Board? #1
Tim Duncan, Wake Forest - 1997 Press Pass #45
Kevin Garnett, Minnesota Timberwolves - Rookie Card - 1995 Topps Stadium Club
Kobe Bryant, Lower Merion HS (PA) - 1996 Press Pass #13

Those college cards are not worth as much as you might think. That Duncan goes for about $5, because the press pass cards are college cards and they are actually pretty common. I have Shaq and Marbury college cards and Kobe high school card. I also have a Lebron James High school card.

Me too. My grandma bought it for me for $20 back in 1986 as a Christmas present... although my Jordan looks a lot closer to the one I posted than the one you did.

Just go to a PSA store and get them graded and certified. It cost like $13 to do, but it is really worth it if you have 2 of them and want to keep one. Will bring you a lot of money im guessin if the grade is 8.5 or higher.

ShoogarBear
01-31-2006, 05:52 PM
the jordans, if they were graded by Beckett (BGS) and got a score of 9.5 (gem mint) would be worth $16,000 each.

I have some Jordan cards but I don't think any rookie ones.

I have too many cards it would take like a month or 2 to go through all of mine. I went through some baseball cards and found a shit load of all-star rookie cards. Like Cal Ripken, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens and so on.

I have both DRob rookie cards. Both Duncan rookies.

I have 967 DRob cards total and still counting.
I have 312 Duncan cards total and still counting.

I have 46 MJ cards, all in the 1990s though.

I have a Shaq rookie. KG rookie. AI rookie, and 2 LeBron rookies.

My most prized collection money wise, is the whole set of "blown up" cards that are 5x7s made by Fleer that has Webber at Michigan, Spree, Shaq, and others. The are pre-laminated and glossed and very, very sweet cards worth around 55 each I believe.

The reason TD cards are at a Stand still is they are not sure about his knee, 3 things make a card go down in price, The player has bad stats, The player gets hurt or the player gets in trouble with drugs or the law, Kobe stats are so good the law does not effects his card as much, but it has gone down a bit.

You can be an OJ simpson and have a bad rap and your card can still be woth money if you hold any records. Its just a matter of time before Kobe breaks 1/2 of MJ's records.

AI will hold a record or two with his high scoring, Tim Duncan on the other hand is in a class with Wilt, and Russle ,and we all know their records are untouchable, besides TD may leave the game sooner than people think. That is why Karl Malone. Webber. and Alonzo are in what we call the ho hum area. They don't get the Flashy reps like the Carters, AI's and LeBron's. TD is to fundamental.

But there is a way you can collect cards and make money , or just have something worth alot if you really do your homework.

here is the key. Get cards that are rare, and are condition sensitive. and make sure you only buy Graded cards, that way you know exactly what its worth.

If someone in this forum says they have a Kobe ex-2000 rookie? I have to wonder what shape it is in, he might say mint, but I might notice the card is 60/40 the edges are wider on one side and thinner on the other. but a graded card like a PSA 9 mint kobe ex-2000? I already know it's mint and it books 400.00 dollars. or It booked 600.00 when I was a collector back in 1997-98

Go after cards that are # Numbered. you want cards that there are only 50 or 25 of. You can have a rookie tim duncan but If I have a jersy/auto card numberd to 50? my card is a better deal. Go after cards with mistakes. wrong # on the back. a miss print,

A card that they only made a few of. Back in 1998 SP authentics came out with autographics cards. the gold ones were numbered to 25 the siver ones were numbered to 100 and the green ones were numbered to 400, well what happed was Jerry rice for some reason did not finish signing all his cards and there was less greens than the silver ones. so they was worth more.

You don't have to have the MJ rookie card to have money, you may have the rare sticker card. It was a sticker card they made way after his Rookie card. The card is condition sensitive, like many sickers? It starts to curl up with age,

sometimes a rookie card does not have collage stats on back, The Dennis rodman rookie card has two years of stats, It just happens to be the first card they made of him so its his rookie. Never take your cards to a card shop. they will bend you over. You need to find a collector who is looking for that card or player and you make a sweet trade. You find some kid in NJ who wants Kidd rookies and you get all his Manu's and Tony Parkers. Kids up north don't really like Spur players, they rather have a 40.00 dollar Reggie Miller and will give you a 75 dollar Tim Duncan, don't buy any Jerseys or balls etc that have autographs unless they are from Upper Deck.

99% of the autographs on Ebay are fakes. I found out the hard way.

here are some cards you should have in your collection.

Mint 9 Kevin Garnet Finest rookie

Mint 9 Tim Duncan Ultra Or SP

Mint 9 Kobe ex-2000

Mint 9 any Lebron james rookies

Mint 9 any Dwayne Wade rookies

make sure you go after PSA or BGS graded cards, they are the only ones really respected in the card collecting world You can have a Gem Mint 10 USA graded Tim Duncan and its not worth what a 8.5 BGS mint card is worth.

I hope some of this was helpful

That's not my card... I was just looking for a photo of one with 50/50 centering like mine. I'd be surprised if the card is anything less than 8.5 though, because it's from a factory set so the color is good and no wax/gum stains, the corners and edges are crisp, and like I said, the centering is perfect.

I have a Skybox David Robinson rookie promotional card from the National Card show when it was in Arlington or Dallas 16 years ago or so (supposedly it was the only place this card was given out). 50/50, perferct corners, etc. Do you have any idea what it would be worth right now, assuming its mint or a very good near mint?

You should send it in to be graded. If it gets a 9? it will effect the price guide.

if you don't like the grade they give you? you can always break the case and send it back in. sometimes you get someone different to grade your card,

I know a guy who got a NM 7 and sent it back in and got an 8.

Does your card say Star on it?

1992-93 Star Company Limited Edition Basketball Series

In 1992-93, Star Company introduced four limited edition basketball series featuring Shaquille O'Neal, similar in format to the 90-91 series Star Limited edition basketball series. Each complete set contains 14 different 9-card NBA player sets for a total of 126 cards. A limited 14 card promo set for each series was distributed to Star dealers.

The card is worth 25-50 to the card shop. To a collector like Alamo50? your looking at a hole new deal. Guys like Alamo50 have to have every card, and they will pay any price to complete thier sets.

I traded a 200 dollar Kerry woods chome refractor for a 700 dollar Randy Moss jersey, The man had to have that card. it was a 3 way trade. the man who wanted the Kerry Woods had a Randy Moss Pulsares card 1 in750 packs, and that if you pull a randy Moss. it was back in 98 when Randy Moss and Peyton manning ruled the cards. Peyton Manning SPX rookie was going for 2,500

I got the Jersey after I traded the Woods card for the Moss card.

You have to make sure these guys have references. Sometimes you can cheat and go on Ebay to see who is Bidding on a card you already have and just e mail the guy and make your own deals.

here is a helpful website

http://www.sccards.com/jordan.htm

remember you can get twice the Book Value of any card if you find a collector who needs it. The Kobe Bryant ex-200 cards were selling for 800-900 hundred dollars when they only booked 400 back in 98

If you have a James Rookie that books 100.00 dollars you can get 150.00 or more,

mouse....r those prices off beckett site?

I havent been to Bekett in years, they used to charge you for the prices, is it free now?

If you want to collect cards for the money investment?

Buy the who Box and don't take off the plastic, go to Ebay and buy as many EX-2000 boxes as you can. Once Kobe breaks MJ's record his cards will shoot to the moon, and MJ rookies will go down in price,

If you buy a box of cards and open all the packs you might not find a Lebron james rookie. But if you buy the box and don't open it? then the box is worth more since no one knows what is inside yet,

Go after packs that are 7.00 dollars and up. they have only one or two rookies per box. SP SPX etc. stay away from commin cards like Fleer hoops etc. go after Chrome and Bowman Chrome. if your smart you will stay on ebay 24/7 and you will find some 12 year old kid who sticks a 800 dollar MJ card on Ebay and forgets to put a reserve on it, sometimes if you up around 3 am you can find auctions that are ending in 45 minutes, I got a 700.00 dollar jesey for 76..00 dollars by pure luck. I was just looking for a picture to put in a post and I went to ebay and it said 700.00 dollar rookie Randy Moss jersey # to 500 from Starter ending in 40 minutes, I bidded 76.75 and The poor guy who Bidded 75.00 must of been pissed when he woke up the next day, he e mailed me 6 times , :lmao

Penny Hardaway's and Grant Hill cards were the Bomb when they hit the NBA.
you have to know when to sell. at one time you could not find a kurt Warner rookie card on Ebay unless you paid big bucks. now look at his cards :lmao

at the same time no one wanted Tony Parkers amd Manu's when they was new to the NBA now look at the prices.
You might want to only collect cards of Hall of Famers they hardly ever go down.

sometimes I feel bad for these kids, I know how it feels to think you have soimething and you don't. The funny thing is I ended up with that Moss card at the end. I found a David Robinson Jersey with auto at all American sports at the fle market off eisenhower road. The Spurs had a really bad season They sat David Robinson on the bench to get Tim Duncan. the man at the store took 75 dollars for the jersey it even came in a see through case. some kid on the AOL card chat room wnated that jesey like Tpark after a Krispy Kream dounut,

Yhis kid would Im me or E mail me no less than 50 times an hour. he said his Little Brother is a huge David Robinson fan and he would give me his left nut for that Jersey, So he somehow got his hands ona 800 dollar MJ sticker card and I was drinking beer and I made the trade, Then I traded the card to the man who had the Moss Pulsares card. To this day I still miss that jersey,It was Black and It even had a Bible verse by his signature Act:13 something.

Theres was his rookie and then there was an Insert.

His rookie is 50.00 Bucks and sells on ebay for 20-25 dollars. remember most cards sell for 1/2 the book value, unless its Wade or James

Theres was his rookie and then there was an Insert.

His rookie is 50.00 Bucks and sells on ebay for 20-25 dollars. remember most cards sell for 1/2 the book value, unless its Wade or James

Is this your card?

go after any rookie autos , any autos after the rookie year are not as popular unless they are only numbered to 50 or 25. tim duncan Rookie autos are not around anymore. once his rookie year was over the cards are locked for life, I had a SAGE or a score rookie auto numbered, in blue ink tim duncan auto that was so sweet the dude at heros and fantasy ripped me off.

The Tim Duncan cards that are sweet are the SP authentic its very low nunber card, His Ultra rookie where he is holding the ball out make sure its got the gold Glitter that card chips real easy and is hard to find graded mint.

Then get his Bowman Chrome or Tops Chrome make sure its graded, you drop that card and you just lost 75% of the book with a bent corner.

That Box sells for 50 dollars more each year, In 5 years you could get 350.00 dollars if Kobe does not get hurt, Don't forget AI is in that box also.

Those cards have a velvet type front, they chip real easy and are hard to find with good centering.. look at the 2000 dollar Kobe above your post, That card you can see some of the chips.

#2 The chipping

#3 you can see where the card company didn't cut the corner out all the way they left some card

Not anymore, but if I ever get a job I am going to buy me 20 cards that are my favorite and just sleep with them at night. back in 1998 I worked at Ft Samm Army base I took home 275.00 every week after taxes. I would spend no less than 400.00 a month on cards. at one time I had the 5th largest collection In south Texas, I would go to all the card shows and make sweet trades. It is fun and very addictive. There is no feeling like opening a pack of cards and pulling a Jerry rice auto or Dan Marino and have the card shop owner try and buy it from you.

Don't forget I went 5 years w/o buying clothes and I had no car payment. I only paid 275.00 a month rent. Those where the days my friend.

after a year or two I started to collect toys, You may want to buy a 1964 G I Joes still in the box. Its like buying Goverment Bonds It always goes up.

Or go after old classis metal Luch Boxes, I think the green Hornet lunch box sells for 800.00 dollars if its in mint condition

Well I dont know much about lunch boxes or anything, but right now I'm a senior in high school, I work and get only like $250 every 2 weeks but my parents dont really make me pay for anything except for if I go out and my own gas for my car, other than that I just gotta keep my grades decent and theyre cool so I guess now would be the best time to start collecting while I dont have to worry about rent and car payments.

I like to look at my cards sometimes, they make some pretty cool ones, or interesting ones, or just funny to see guys when they were young, I have some of Steve Kerr and Robert Horry, they look funny, or when guys played for different teams, or guys you don't think about much, like Willie and Terry....

Some cards I like, I have a D ROB card that has bumps on it like a basketball, one of a set of six that are art, I believe they are Fleer and the collection included Ewing, Barkley, Robinson, Jordan, and don't remember the rest.

I also have the Sam Vincent card where Jordan is shown wearing number 12....

good post mouse. one thing to add is that more of the popular players, in terms of fans sell really high. back in the day penny hardaway was selling krazy. as well grant hill. those two players were tied for second behind jordan for hobby. now all my 100 penny cards are worth like 75 cents to 1 dollar.

my duncan's are worth (bgs gem mint 9.5)
upperdeck - 60ish
finest - 60
stadium club - 100

my plan is to collect all of duncan's rookies in bgs gem mints

also, BGS is the highest known and accepted company. but like mouse said PSA is right behind it and wouldnt be a bad choice. you can always get the card re-graded by BGS for 10 bucks and get an almost equal grade.

alamo - 1300 DIFFERENT drob cards? are there even 1300 cards made of him? that close to 90-100 cards per season.

i got only 200 duncan cardsI've got a bunch of Grant Hills as well. What a jerk! http://spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smibang.gif

How do you get autographed cards? They come in the packet or do you actually get it signed?Either way there are cards out there that are limited edition numbered autograph cards. Or you can get any card and get it autographed but the numbered cards are better since they are certified.

98% of the autographs on that list are authentic autographed cards that you might pull from a pack.
Some players just don't have an authentic autographics card.

I have a Shaq college card and his rookie card. They've been stored at my parents' house for like 13 years. I have so many Michael Jordan cards, too. But the demand for sports cards isn't like it used to be, and it's nearly impossible to sell them for what they're worth.

But that idea about having them graded is an awesome idea. All my cards that were ever worth anything have been in hard-case, anti-UV cases since the day they were purchased. I'm all about selling them for $16,000 each LOL.

By the way, who would buy cards for that much anyway? Where would I go sell it?

Stockton wasn't that tough when I got it... but then again, it was maybe his 3rd or 4th year in the league when I got it. Same with Jordan. Larry Bird was really tough. I didn't get it until myabe the fourth or fifth try. Kareem absolutely refused to sign anything, and I tried at least 10 times with him. Finally I mailed a card to him for a signature, but I'm 99% sure it was signed by his secretary or something, because the signature looked different from the facsimile sig printed on his NBA-licensed posters I saw for sale at Hemisfair. The players outside of SA who seemed to appreciate their fans the most IMO were probably Magic, Dr. J, Sir Charles, and Frank Layden - that guy was cool as hell to fans.
