INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Indiana Pacers' injury woes continued as swingman Stephen Jackson was taken to the hospital during Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jackson was attempting a driving layup with 2:15 left in the second quarter when he collided with Lakers forward Brian Cook and fell to the ground, landing awkwardly on his tailbone.

He remained on the ground clutching his lower back and had to be carried to the locker room by teammates Scot Pollard and David Harrison.

Jackson, who is second on the team with 15.8 points a game, later was taken to Methodist Hospital and was diagnosed with a bruised hip and an elbow abrasion.

Although X-rays were negative, Jackson will be kept overnight for observation and will be re-evaluated Wednesday morning.

The Pacers already are without leading scorer and rebounder Jermaine O'Neal until at least mid-March because of a left groin tear. Starting point guard Jamaal Tinsley also is sidelined with a sore elbow.

Pacers' Jackson injured after nasty fall

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana guard Stephen Jackson was hospitalized after a hard fall late in the second quarter of the Pacers' 105-79 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night.

Jackson was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was diagnosed with a hip contusion and an elbow abrasion but had no fractures. He was kept overnight for observation and will be re-examined on Thursday, according to a Pacers press release.

Jackson, who averages 16 points, was driving to the hoop and was called for an offensive foul on the play with 2:15 left before halftime. He finished with eight points and four assists in 19 minutes.

"We were just hoping that Stephen wasn't hurt seriously and will be able to join us again soon," center David Harrison said.

The Pacers already were without starters Jermaine O'Neal, Austin Croshere and Jamaal Tinsley because of injuries.
