Help!!!!

My girlfriend doesn't like flowers, she says "What's the point? They die and are a waste of money." I bought her jewlery last year, but she doesn't even wear it. I'd consider an engagement ring, but I'm not traveling down that road until I get the ultimatum. I was considering a pajamagram (http://www.pajamagram.com/) and scoring her some comfy pj's to wear while she grades papers and such.

Any ideas will help out considerably. If you guys haven't noticed, I'm not really a romantic type of person.

Thanks for the tip! :lmao :lmao :angel

The PJ's are an AWESOME idea, especially if she likes to hang out in them (I know I do :) )

....but whatever you do, make sure you get the right size. :lol

I've already checked her other pj's to get the right size, just in case I go with that.

Is she a Spurs fan? How 'bout tickets to a game?

If not, a nice dinner out at a high-class place is always nice. Or, if you can cook, a delicious dinner at home is always a winner (there is that place, Supper Solutions at the Forum where you can go and get dinner already prepared to go in the oven, :lol )

The best Valentine gift I ever got from a guy was a pair of Oakley sunglasses. I wore those things for years, and I loved them. I lost them on a fishing trip, though. :rolleyes :depressed

Come to think of it, that fishing trip was a Valentine gift, too! :spin

Help!!!! I bought her jewlery last year, but she doesn't even wear it.

I once spent most of my student savings on a pendant for my wife when we were still dating. Although I was in my late teens, it was the first time I really *looked* at jewellery.

And my not so humble opinion told me it was superb.

It was only after we got married that I discovered she didn't like the design and had *never* worn it. She never got around to telling me about it as she knew I had spent a lot of time (and $$$) on it :oops

Might be the same for you. If you're anything like me, you're gonna get it horribly wrong the first few times when buying things for her :) Don't fret it - it's a learning experience and you'll get better at it soon.

Anyway, for suggestions, I agree with Pache100 that a romantic candlelight dinner, followed by a scrumptious dessert is a must! The latter part is important - women LOVE desserts :) If you have a talent for sweet talk, this is the night for it!

I love writing so it's a custom for me to give a card telling my wife how much she means to me. It's good to remind her of it as the longer the relationship, the less us men tend to say it :) If you're not a good writer, I suggest searching for a poem that reflects your own feelings at sites such as www.lovingyou.com.

Coming back to the gift... I've found out after all these years that the price doesn't really matter. It's more about the time and the effort that you've put into finding something you KNOW she'll like - it shows how well you know her.

If she's into cute stuff, then go ahead and get plush toys :)

If she has a hobby (horse riding, sports, etc.), why not get her something that will show your support?

Pajamas might be a good idea as well, but I personally find buying an item of clothing for my wife (that she *will* wear) is even MORE difficult than jewellery due to having more variables, especially the big unknown: how flattering it will look when worn. Some things may look sexy to you but to her, she'll be concerned that it makes her tummy/butt/thighs/herself look bigger/flatter/fatter/huge :fro

Out of all jewellery items (excluding rings!), it seems that earrings are most likely to get used - my wife always wears one when going out while she will often omit necklaces, bracelets, etc.. I guess it's because the latter are more cumbersome.

Just look at what she wears and you'll have a better idea of what to buy.

From what my wife has been telling me lately, trendy earrings similar to what you see in desperate housewives are all the rage.

They look something like this: http://www.lesbeatitudes.com/petiteaphrodite/images/earrings/er032b.jpg

or this (http://www.lesbeatitudes.com/petiteaphrodite/er042.htm), or this one (http://www.lesbeatitudes.com/petiteaphrodite/er027.htm)

Just to be clear, my wife made these earrings (it's her hobby) and these photos are from her site, petite aphrodite (http://www.lesbeatitudes.com/petiteaphrodite)

Ugh... as I said earlier, I love writing :p Hope you can find something useful in here!

The dinner thing would be good if I didn't already make dinner for her every night. I also bake deserts once or twice a week, so doing it on Valentine's Day isn't really different from what I usually do. I believe I will look for some nice jewelry for her and if I can't find anything I think she will actually use, I'm probably going to get her some of those pjs. I will also get this stuffed animal sent to her at her High School with some nice flowers (eventhough she doesn't want them I know all women love flowers).

It's down on the Academy end, behind the Hobby Lobby on that little road that goes into Olympia and winds around to Olympia Parkway. I think it's open now, too. I have seen a show about this place on the Food channel and the people who got the chain started around DC, and I have seen a segment on the local news on it (last night, I think...Marilyn Moritz). It looks like a really cool place. You can go in and prepare your own meals and take them home to cook, or, for a little more money, you can go in and pick up meals the staff has prepared and cook them when you get home. Everything is ready for you, all the chopping done, all the ingredients/spices ready. You choose from a big long list of available meals for each specific month.

I'm glad you like them :) My wife spent a lot of time and effort making those earrings as well as designing the site. Feedback is always appreciated!

I believe you'll like the prices too - they are geared towards Singapore customers and due to the lower cost of living here, they are cheaper than equivalent US handmade jewellery.

Let me know if you're interested in anything and I'll try to work some magic on my wife for a SpursTalk special :D

By the way, she created a new collection using Organza as the centrepiece. Here's a sample:
http://www.lesbeatitudes.com/petiteaphrodite/images/earrings/er051.jpg (http://www.lesbeatitudes.com/petiteaphrodite/enchantee_earrings.htm)

The collection has proved to be very popular, and most items (including the above one) have already been sold but there's more coming... Updating is slow because taking pictures, writing the captions and doing the layout always seem to take more time than expected.

She'll be updating her site at least once every 3-4 days for the coming weeks. Check back often :)

I think the PJs sound like a great idea.

1) You thought of it on your own and didn't need hints
2) You were thinking of her comfort
3) It's not just something you want to see her in

Do you think she said no flowers and meant it? If so, what about a plant that won't just die immediately? There are some very pretty ones to choose from.

Just a word of warning... I used to work at HEB, and the rep from American Greetings would come in and do all the stocking of cards, gifts, etc... Anything with the AG tag on it. Well, whatever AG chocolate did not sell, they would take back to the warehouse, box it, and put it out again the next year. The rest of the stuff they clearance out each year, but American Greetings are a bunch of cheap mofos.

Midge, what's excellent about this gift is that if she likes it you can add to it with other special charms. It's great that you picked things that are sure to mean something to her. Why do you have to spoil your man or woman on Valentine's Day anyway? If you are in love, shouldn't you be showing it every day and not just one day out of the year? Why cave to the peer pressure of society? Just get with your special someone and do your thing.
