Minnesota pulled off a very unlikely feat. They overcome 24 turnovers and win...in Phoenix. The T-Wolves win drops Phoenix 1 game off the Western Conference pace versus Dallas and the Spurs, aided by the Pups' new Boston graftees.

Garnett’s Block Seals Win for Timberwolves

PHOENIX. Feb. 6 (Ticker) -- Kevin Garnett waited until the final shot to determine the outcome.

Garnett had 19 points, 12 rebounds and the game-winning block on Shawn Marion's shot in the final seconds as the Minnesota Timberwolves snapped their three-game losing streak with a 103-101 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

NBA TV highlights from
Wolves-Suns: Play
The 6-11 Garnett ranks among the league leaders in numerous categories but is just 25th in blocks at 1.37 per game with 65 rejections overall. Two of those blocks came Monday, including the game-deciding one on the final possession.

After Minnesota rookie Rashad McCants missed, Steve Nash found Boris Diaw for a wide-open 3-pointer to cut Phoenix's deficit to 100-99 with 45 seconds to go. Garnett and Nash traded baskets before Garnett made 1-of-2 free throws to make it 103-101 with 13 seconds remaining.

Nash found Marion on the baseline for the game-tying shot but Garnett was able to get his hand on the ball as the buzzer sounded to seal the victory for Minnesota. Suns coach Mike D'Antoni ran onto the court to protest the play to no avail.

Marcus Banks scored 19 points and Ricky Davis added 18 points apiece for the Timberwolves, who shot 56 percent (41-of-72) from the field to overcome 24 turnovers.

Nash scored 31 points and Marion added 14 and 12 rebounds for Phoenix, which shot 44 percent (34-of-77) overall and made 6-of-16 from the arc.

There are many grammatical errors in your first paragraph.

That was awfully close to being a goaltend.

"T-Wolves win drops Phoenix 1 game off the Western Conference pace"

huh? one MORE L, WAYdown.
Suns aren't going get close enough to WC pace this season to sniff it.
Did you mean PD pace?

Mavs 10L
Spurs 10L
Suns 17L
Clippers 17L

Suns will have HCA only in first round IF they win Pacific.

That block was something else by KG. At first instance it looked like a goaltend but upon review it appears to me anyway, that he blocked the shot just as it reached it's apex.

The standings right now almost favor the Suns. I think if the season ended today, assuming they can make a run to the WCF, they wouldn't face the Spurs or Mavs until the WCF. But the Spurs and Mavs would have a 2nd round pairing.

The Suns instead would face an easier road to the WCF.

Which could be done even if Amare doesn't return. (Hopefully he doesn't until next season to make sure that knee is ready).

Even thinking the Suns will get to the WCF is a stretch but at least a 2nd round appearance should be in order. Unless the league passes a rule and sets up a matchup with the Suns and an under .500 team.

I agree, and KG gets away with one of those every couple of games. He does it to Duncan virtually every time the Spurs play the Wolves. Complaining about the call is ridiculous, because it literally could have been called either way and been difficult to argue. Good teams shouldn't allow games to come down to things like that.
