The transmission on my sister's car went out. Does anyone know of a place besides the dealerhsip where she can take it and get it replaced at a reasonable price and quality work? Thanks ahead of time.

Transmission shops are all crooked so look for a neighborhood garage that has a fair price and good warranty on their labor/parts in case you have any problems. Some shops offer 3yr/75,000 miles on new/rebuilt trannies. Call around.

That just doesn't sound right.

Agreed all crooks. If it's an auto tranny ONLY let the dealer work on it.
If it's manual and just clutch then it's ok for others to touch it if your gonna sell the car in a year or 2.
Please when asking for car advice give the make, model, year engine and in this case of course the tranny type.

Just had my transmission in the Tahoe replaced at Sgt. Clutch. No complaints. More than I wanted to pay, but nobody would replace my transmission for $50 and a 12 pack.....
