Rockets Acquire Keith Bogans From Bobcats
Lonny Baxter Sent to Charlotte

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

HOUSTON, Feb. 9 – Houston Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson announced today that the team has acquired guard/forward Keith Bogans from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for forward Lonny Baxter.

Bogans (6-5, Kentucky) has averaged 8.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 186 career games (87 starts) with Orlando and Charlotte. In 2005-06, Bogans is averaging 8.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.00 steals in 39 games (nine starts) with Charlotte. He has scored 10-plus points 17 times with the Bobcats, including a season-high 22 points at Orlando (1/7). Bogans also grabbed a season-best eight rebounds at Atlanta (12/27). He missed his final nine games (1/24/06-2/8/06) with the Bobcats after suffering a right knee medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain at Milwaukee (1/21).

Bogans was acquired by the Bobcats from Orlando on Nov. 1, 2004, in exchange for forward Brandon Hunter. He went on to play in 74 games with Charlotte in 2004-05, averaging 9.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Selected by Milwaukee with the 43 rd overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Bogans’ draft rights were traded to Orlando on draft night. He appeared in 73 games with the Magic, averaging 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 2003-04.

As a collegian, Bogans played in 135 games over his four-year career at the University of Kentucky. He averaged 14.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.14 steals. Bogans finished fourth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,923 points, trailing former NBA players Dan Issel, Kenny Walker and Jack Givens.

Baxter (6-8, Maryland) averaged 3.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 23 games with the Rockets. He signed as a free agent with Houston on Sept. 8, 2005, after playing in three NBA seasons with Chicago, Toronto, Washington and New Orleans.

Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson will address the media at 3:00 p.m. today. Check back to Rockets.com for a complete recap of that press conference.

Anderson wants answers
Rockets guard Derek Anderson said Wednesday he would ask for a meeting with coach Jeff Van Gundy today to find out why he has not been returned to the active roster.

Anderson said he has been ready to come back from a strained right calf for about a week.

"I don't know why I'm not playing," Anderson said. "I'm frustrated. I got in shape. I didn't go on the (two-game) trip, stayed back, worked on getting in shape. I hoped I would be playing today, but obviously I'm not. I'm going to talk to him tomorrow and see what my status is."

Bogans is healthy and would have played yesterday if he wasn't traded to Houston.

Yeah, I'm sure there was a physical.

But you know these talks have been on for awhile.
