Sounds like your just picking up an analog wireless phone. You can transmit voice via DOCSIS cable modems but it's in packets so you can't hear it. Has to be processed.

Sometimes you can pick up CB radio on antennea, too.

Or, maybe you're just schizophrenic.

EHE. I hate that. You are peaceful, and the next, they are like talking through the speakers, and you are like, "Shit shit...wtf is that?". And you find out it is the speakers, and you try to get rid of it, but it doesn't go away. So you end up turning up the music.

Back in the day.. before cell phones where real popular, I guess the "brick age". 88-91
...

Back then everyone had the low freq cordless phones at home. With my bearcat scanner I could listen to everyone around me. Lots of gossip lol...

The old days are gone :(

It was legal. As long as you have an FCC scanner it will have a manufacture date. You grandfathered in on those Frequency's that where legal the date of manufacture.

This also covered the 800 mhz flip phones.

Now if the people selling them didn't let you know that scanners could pick the freq's up then that's there fucking fault.

The only juicy thing I ever heard on my scanner was port a spring break once. Monitoring ambulance and fire. "Hey you not going to belive this over" "Male age 54 married, died during sexual intercouse with 18 year old in hotel room"...

The conversation was about 2 hours long cause they had to call the coroner. "Is anyone going to call his wife?".
