Look at what Nick Van Exel did for the Mavericks 3 years ago, the last time he was in the playoffs.

The shut the pie hole.

Ya know,

when the SPurs signed Robert Horry in the summer of 03, they were ripped up for it.

HES DONE, HE CANT SHOOT!!

He played mediocre that year, and there were more daysleepers running around saying shit like that.

Then, last year happened. They are quite quiet now.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH on X.

Sorry for the few posts; I took my wife and son to KFC here in Sacto tonight. Tim should be almost 100% with the day off before IND on Sunday.

sorry but NVE has HORRIFIC knees and is falling apart. i think what he did in 2003 is fantastic. unfortunately its 2006. i know he may be better in the playoffs but its been THREE YEARS which is roughly 246 nba games later to where we're at now.

Remember, Rob was a huge disappointment in the 2004 playoffs after the Memphis series. What if the Spurs had written him off then?

Robert Horry's career 3G% is 34.5

OK so when NVE is in the same class as horry and actually does something positive i will be mORE than happy to give him his props. until then, he's a player who is on the verge of retirement with good reason

yes but horry did great in last year's finals, or more specifically recent. a hell of a lot more recent than 2003

fair enough but horry is a much better player than van exel. he can to an extent, block shots, rebound, defend, if his shots arent falling. NVE can occasionaly score (tho not anymore) and he's a notch above beno in bringing the ball up the court. i just dont see how we can play NVE above barry

EXCELLENT work NVE!!

you've proven that you can show up once every 35 games.

come on T park, lets be realistic man

i'll tell you what

barring idiotic shot selection from NVE i'll try to shut up until playoff time for NVE to at least have one or two (not asking for much) solid games. but he leaves a lot to be desired as does Finley

barring idiotic shot selection from NVE That's pretty much part of the package.

He hit one big pull-up three tonight that was a bad shot.

yeah i know the pull up shot is one of his "signature" shots but with how strict Pop is i'm amazed he lets him get away with it as much as he does considering that more times than not, that shot is always a miss

And turnovers

The Manu homers say its ok, but bad for Van Exel?

Consistency PLEASE.

i'm amazed he lets him get away with it

Pop is like me.

Any shot Nick Van Exel shoots, is a good shot.

Nick is just making up for all the shots Barry didn't take.Barry is in a very special doghouse. He looks up at the ceiling and sees "Malik was here".

I'd say the reason the Spurs won this game in the last 5:30 was more due to Pop going small. Not a NVE thing, per se. Prior to that time, the Spurs were getting a lot of their chances off TP penetrations and when Manu was the other guard, he had some bad turnovers on hurried passes trying to get ball movement. Finley wasn't moving well enough to get open very often.

Pop went small and that allowed two playmakers to create chances (TP and NVE) and Manu playing SF able to move and open things up and draw fouls - something Fin doesn't do. Bowen was playing the 4 (really a third wing) during that time and he hit 2 very big shots. Timmy hit the boards, outworked Robinson and later Krstic in those 5 minutes and really finished well considering how sick he appeared to be.

This win was more about creating better movement with more playmakers on the floor.

He has one bum knee that is only an issue if he plays heavy minutes. Clutch is clutch. It can't be taught. You either have it, or you don't. Nick has it.

I think the starters played well this game and all made important contributions to the victory. NVE was the only bench player that really had a good game. I was disappointed in the play of all 3 bigs from the bench when they knew how sick Tim was.

Well I saw him go to the locker room in the 2nd and in the 4th. I'm assuming there were other times we didn't see because Pop jested that Tim had a good game "between bathroom breaks."
Apparently there were 7 trips!
