Pacers Dominate Supersonics 101-78

After Tuesday night's disapointing 78-76 loss to the Boston Celtics, the Indiana Pacers tonight came out and completely dismantled the Seattle Supersonics this evening 101-78 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Six Pacers were in double figures in what was the team's most dominating performance this season, in a game that was never really close.

Jeff Foster led the Pacers tonight with 19 points, and 12 rebounds in a game that was truly a "team" effort all around.

"We shared the ball, which we always try to do." Pacers Coach Rick Carlisle said afterwards. " A little bit of us is Seattle’s style. I thought we did a great job all night getting back in transition and finding their shooters. I thought our collective will was strong."

The Pacers controlled the tempo with their defense in every quarter. They jumped out to a 25-12 lead in the first. The Sonics cut it to 32-29 at the end of the period, but the Pacers opened the second quarter with a 17-7 run to build a 49-36 lead. Seattle cut it to 51-42 at the half, but the Pacers scored the first 11 points of the third period to extend the lead to 62-42

After letting a 14 point lead fall by the waistside on Tuesday, the Pacers were determined not to let that happen once again. Their offense never let up against the Sonics this evening. The lead at times nearly reached 25 points in the fourth quarter.

At that point, Coach Carlisle started to bring in the reserves such as Austin Croshere, Primoz Brezec, and the "missing" Jammal Tinsley, who hasn't played since the Halloween game two weeks ago against the Bucks.

Jermaine O'Neal, who was fined $5,000 dollars for his comments after the Celtics loss, scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Eastern Conference Player of the Week Ron Artest had another solid outing as well, scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds.

Reggie Miller showed he still hasn't lost a step, scoring 11 points and dishing out 4 assists for the evening. And Al Harrington was once again the spark off the bench, scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds, his bench team mate Anthony Johnson also contributed with 11 points and 4 assists.

The Pacers now go on the road for another "back-to-back" game, this time it's at Madison Square Garden to face their old nemisis, the New York Knicks.

Gametime Saturday is at 7:30 pm (EST)

Jeff Foster had a HUGE night. 10 offensive rebs.! Also Artest proved that he can shut down anyone in the NBA, holding Murray to under 20 points for the first time this season.
