the All-Star game was in here in San Antonio. David Robinson, Sean Elliott, Shaq on the Magic, Penny, MJ, Pippen, Kemp, Olajuwon, Ewing...man those were the good ol days. Oh yeah, Brent Barry won the slam dunk contest here too, isnt that somethin.

The absolute zenith of the Fastbreakin' Fiesta style. For one glorious night, it infected the entire NBA.

Was nice that riff-raff like me could actually attend, though.

Good memory!

I still love those young(er) Drob days!

Was that the year Shaq shot a 3 pointer at the allstar game? Im not sure when it was, but I remember I almost pee'd on myself because I laughed so hard after I saw him actually shoot it!

Irony???.... What's ironic is that fate decided that it would be Michael who would then beat Barry for the 6th man role.... :spin

Thanks to the Spurs ugly ass theme colors and logo in the 90s.

DRob robbed of ASG MVP in his hometown. I'll never forget freaking out in front of the tv.

the last time houston hosted an allstar game was in the late 80s ('88?) so if the NBA is rotating it at this pace we could host the Allstar game again within the next 8 years or so

T-Pain the fans were just upset DRob was MVPROBBED.

MJ - 8-11 shooting, 4-4fts, 4rebs 1ast in 22mins

DRob - 8-13 shooting, 2-2fts, 11rebs 2asts in 22mins, leading the West.

Even Shaq had a better game than MJ. He only won MVP cause the East won by 11.

Jordan got booed because Shaq was clearly the MVP of the game... he even offered Shaq the MVP trophy afterwards.

And man, how did all you guys get to go to the game, I lived in Orlando in 1992 when it was there (Magic Johnson's comeback) and we tried for weeks to get tix and could not. Season ticket people were in a lotto, and the rest went to players and media. Oh wait, thinking about it now it was in the Alamodome... always forget how freaking enormous that place is. The O-rena as it was then known is tiny in comparison.

sorry, didnt know. overall, the allstar game was a blast, but i thought it was one of the worst. Tim Legler won the 3pt contest, and brent barry won the dunk contest, and i didnt know who any of these guys were, they played on two sucky ass teams. and then east won, and now people think Dave and Shaq was robbed of the MVP.

I was at that game and there was nothing "good" about those old days.

Shaq dominated big Dave when we all wanted to see the opposite. That was the moment that I first realized that Shaq was the new force -- that Dave couldn't lead the team to a championship. All in all, a disappointing day (and that's not even considering those uniforms).

Those uniforms were so bad, that the NBA wouldn't provide distinct All-Star uniforms again until 2002-03

or design another All-Star uniform until 2003-04
