HOUSTON, Feb. 13 – Houston Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson announced today that the team has acquired forward Maciej Lampe (pronounced ma-chick lam-PAY) from the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets in exchange for guard Martyn “Moochie” Norris.

Lampe (6-11, Poland) has averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 60 career games with Phoenix and NOK. After being selected by the New York Knicks with the 30th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Lampe was traded to Phoenix along with Antonio McDyess, Howard Eisley, Charlie Ward and draft considerations in exchange for Stephon Marbury, Anfernee Hardaway and Cezary Trybanski on January 5, 2004.

In 2003-04, Lampe played in 21 games for the Suns, averaging 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. The following season he played in 16 games for Phoenix before being traded on January 21, 2005 to NOK along with Casey Jacobsen and Jackson Vroman in exchange for Jim Jackson and a 2005 second round draft pick. Lampe posted 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in his combined 37 games last year for both teams. This season, he has seen action in two games for the Hornets, averaging 2.0 rebounds.

Norris (6-1, West Florida) averaged 2.2 points and 1.0 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 29 games with the Rockets. Norris was in his second stint with the Rockets after being acquired in a trade with the New York Knicks on Feb. 24, 2005.

Wasn't somebody bent when the Spurs didn't draft Lampe?

I remember one Knicks scout was pretty pissed when New York included him in the Marbury deal. He claimed that one day that trade would be remembered as the "Maciej Lampe trade" and not the "Marbury trade"...

Funny, last year he was in a package for a solid veteran in Jim Jackson.

One season later, he's now equal value to Moochie Norris?

OUCH!

Why would Hornets want Norris? :lmaoPaul is out and Speedy is getting over a concussion. They're really staying active since they have a shot at the playoffs. And from what I've read, Byron hates Magic Lamp. Props.

I never knew his name was Martyn. I figured Moochie wasn't his real name, I just never knew what that real name was.

You'd figure with Macijauskas on the bench they wouldn't need to go out and get Moochie. Especially since Macijauskas can shoot lights out.

Also when Anderson was banned a few weeks ago, wasn't there this need for big guys? They reject Hunter and ship another 7 ftr for Moochie?

Maybe the trade was more about ridding themselves of Maciej if the coach really does like him that much. By going to Houston maybe he can play the Bostan Nachbar role.

Arvydas isn't a point and can't pretend to be one in the playoffs.

They already picked up Aaron Williams to help up front.

Maciej Lampe (pronounced ma-chick lam-PAY)

Did his parents name him that to be clever because it sounded like Magic Lamp in English? Just curious.
