They Take Hunting Accidents Seriously In Texas...
... if you are a ranch hand with a Spanish surname:

An undocumented Mexican immigrant was shot and killed Sunday evening in an apparent hunting accident on a Webb County ranch owned by the family of former U.S. diplomat John G. Hurd.

"The illegals were crouching out in the brush. They said they mistook this guy for a hog," said Webb County Sheriff Juan Garza....

Juan Garza Mendoza, 34, an employee of the ranch, was charged Monday with manslaughter, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison....

Mendoza had apparently hit Barrera Vasquez while shooting at a feral hog, and immediately contacted authorities after the shooting, Hurd said.

Sheriff Garza said interviews with three of the victim's Mexican traveling companions and the others in the ranch hunting party led him to rule out anything but an accidental shooting.

"They mistakenly shot a human being," he said. "It's reckless. It's inexcusable."

I guess it's a good thing Dick doesn't spell his last name Chenez.....

The difference is, of course, that the man Cheney shot was released from the hospital today.

In addition, if we were to infer more, then it would be that the life of a rich Anglo lawyer is worth less than that of an undocumented illegal.

If the point you are trying to make is that Mendoza's punishment was too severe, I'm inclined to agree.

If the point you're trying to make is that Dick Cheney should have received the same punishment, I don't share that opinion. An unfair punishment should not be used as precedent for similar incidents.

Another History lesson from Dan. Old story Dan. DA investigated this
thing for months and had much political pressure put on him to prosecute
the man by MEXICANS. Go back and look at the date this incident
occurred.

Mendoza, though, wasn't prosecuted -- the charges against him were dropped pending the outcome of civil litigation, and as far as the blogger knows, were never reinstated. Mendoza, it would seem, wasn't prosecuted, despite the fact that he killed someone.

Not sure what Nbadan is trying to imply?

But if it is what I think it is (that Cheney's incident resembles Mendoza's), that implication is a fucking stretch, and a pretty stupid one too.

extatic I cannot believe you agree with this.
