My boy as always, Tony Stewart.

Watched him in 1995 win the USAC triple crown.

Was there in Orlando as he raced in his first big league race the INDY 200.

Finished second to Buzz Caulkins.

God I miss the old IRL.

Young open wheelers, like Billy Boat, Andy Michner, Mike Bliss, JJ Yeley use to run with Stewart and Davey Hamilton, Arie Luyendyk, Eddie Cheever.

Sigh..........

But,

Crap. Bobby Labonte had been one of the fastest drivers all week. Now he blows his engine today in the final practice. Man, us old school 43 fans just can't catch a break. Hopefully he'll still have a respectable finsish, but my hopes for victory just went out the window.

It's not just Bobby that will turn it around. Getting Robbie Loomis back from the Gordon camp was huge. So was scoring Todd Parrott as crew chief. Its been a while since us old Petty fans have had reason to be optimistic. But this just might be the turnaround year we've been waiting for.

the "plate" they refer to is called a restrictor plate, it sits on top of the carbuerator and restricts the amount of air that ne engine can receive. This basically limits the cars horsepower, keeping all of the cars aboout the same speed. While this keep all the cars at the same speed, it also means that the cars will travel together since nobody has a real advantage over another driver. This makes for 3-wide groupings going into turns and when one driver makes a wrong move, there is usually a HUGE wreck to follow.

I am not a fan of restrictor plate racing.

but there are only two tracks that NASCAR enforces the restrictor plates, Daytona, and Talledega.

DUDE...I am playing this line for all it is worth...ya know what I mean? That was a STOOPID comment made by Gumble and it had no relevance to anything because there are so many more venues to target. tony clearly slid up the track and gordon went to pass, naturally. tony wasnt happy that he made a mistake and took out gordon in the process of his temper tantrum
stewart is lame. and he cried all week long and still didnt accept responsibility after the race for his actions and still cried about others. he needs a reality check
