Miller had his best game of the preseason, with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in 20 minutes. Miller had hit 6-of-18 field-goal attempts in the three previous games.
"There's a lot of things I need to work on," Miller said. "My conditioning's not all the way there. Just starting Sept. 1, I'm still trying to catch up."
Miller said the right ankle that was surgically repaired in May bothers him on occasion.
"But I'm not going to use that (as an excuse) this year," he said. "If I don't get the job done, it's me not getting the job done."
Prolonging the inevitable
The Pacers' injury woes have forced coach Rick Carlisle to postpone roster cuts.
They are carrying 18 players, but with six sitting out Wednesday they needed all the bodies they could get.
Based upon preseason playing time, free agents Michael Smith and Carl English and two-year veteran Jamison Brewer are in the most precarious positions.
