Nuggets did good here. RB can defend around the arc and thats something the Nuggets have lacked all year.

And could the signing of Evans mean Kmart is a gonner?

Ruben Patterson is a tough defender and can bring on the offensive side as well. Reggie is a very good rebounder and they need that since Nene is out. I think K-Mart goes to NY. Maybe.

I think the Sonics got a good trade here.
I do not know how much but they will have a space in their cap.

Time to chceck who will be available.

The Sonics will be under the cap, but I bet free agents would rather go to Orlando to play with Dwight Howard and would rather live in Orlando.

Could someone kindly post what the trade was?

Denver still lacks outside shooting. Seattle needs alot more than Earl Watson to make them better. I think Portland did great by dumping salaries.

What's interesting is Potapenko is a FA next year? I liked the way he banged on Timmy, but don't know if he has anything else to his game.

Earl Watson to Sonics. V. Lenard and Potapenko to Portland (expiring Contracts), Denver get Reggie Evans and Reuben Patterson.

This is why I think they might send K-Mart to NY for Jamal Crawford. Don't know if it will work though.

It will be interesting to see if Ruben and coach Karl can co-exist. When Ruben can't even get along with coaches like Cheeks and Nate good luck with Karl.

Three-way deal brings Watson to Sonics

ESPN.com news services

The Seattle SuperSonics have reached an agreement on a three-way trade that will bring guard Earl Watson back to the Sonics, who drafted him in 2001, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports.

The deal, which is expected to be announced later Thursday, sends Seattle forward Reggie Evans and Portland swingman Ruben Patterson to the Nuggets.

Portland, in its ongoing quest for salary-cap relief, was eager to part with Patterson and acquire Denver guard Voshon Lenard (whose contract expires at season's end) and Seattle center Vitaly Potapenko (who has only one season left on his contract).

The Sonics also receive a future second-round pick from Denver in the deal, which has been sent to the league office for official approval.

NY would have to add Channing Frye, or Lee and Nate. So I doubt it.

Peter's analysis:

Denver does ok with this deal. Watson wasn't the best fit for them. When Denver signed him it looked like they did so in order to have a piece to trade. Evans and Patterson fit their style of play. They might've done better though.

Portland gets more cap flexibility from this. Otherwise, not much else.

Seattle gets a guy who could bring what AD did last season. But they've given up a big chunk of their remaining frontline which played so well last postseason. It looks like Bob Hill's team will be able to put up 100 points a night...and give up 104.

Ruben is a very good player. A good risk for the Nuggets. When healthy they have a good player at every position.

And this is a surprise to anyone? (wait...nevermind...I've seen some of the "talent" that posts around here...)

Denver came out the best by far in terms of players notwithstanding economics.

On paper looks like a win-win-win, but is it just me or are the Nuggets beginning to look like Jailblazers South?

Ruben patterson is a cancer.

Stupid trade by the Nuggets.

Denver needs a SG in the worst way and all they got were players similar to players they already have, patterson and Najera are very similar players and reggie evans is simply a good rebounder. They actually lost their best shooter (watson 39% 3pt) and didn't gain anything significant. Seattle on the other hand gains watson who should be a starter and got rid of that russian stiff.

I remember accepting the fact last year that the Spurs were not going to make a move because of the lack of info, then he next time I check, BAM, Malik's gone.

And as of right now, I'm pretty sure nothing is going to get done.

I like the way Potapenko left Tim open under the basket to guard Manu who made the game-winning AST to Tim.

Denver can beat the Spurs with this lineup. Maybe not win a 7-game series but they will most def do some damage now. Denver definitely got tougher and more physical.

That's what I'm feeling, but their shooting just weakened.

That's true. Timmy just hates junked-up games, though, and that's exactly what they'll get with Denver now.

The trade changed, the Kings received Potapenko and Monia for Skinner:

In a four-team,
nine-player deal:
The Sonics acquired Earl Watson, Bryon Russell, a 2008 second-round pick and cash from the Nuggets.
The Nuggets acquired Reggie Evans from the Sonics, and Ruben Patterson and Charles Smith from the Trail Blazers.
The Trail Blazers acquired Voshon Lenard from the Nuggets and Brian Skinner from the Kings.
The Kings acquired Vitaly Potapenko from the Sonics and Sergei Monia from the Trail Blazers.

I assume the Sonics will waive Russell. He's out for the year.

The trade has so much potential. A lot of those players can end up being great additions. Still, I doubt this trade will mean much til next season.
