Hey, i'm going to Las Vegas this summer, and I'm wondering what places I should go. I'm planing the trip now, so I kind of have to know what we're going to do. So far all I know is that we're staying in the MGM hotel. Thanks!

All the new hotels, go down to Freemont at least 1 night as well.

What kind of places are you talking about? Sapphires and Spearmint Rhino are fun for the family...

The strip is pretty cool.

Seriously, though - don't try to see all the casinos, they all look the same after a while. I agree with going to Freemont at least one night.

No kidding. There's almost no point in even going.

Here's a couple ideas ---
The Blue Man Group is usually playing, there's a show at Excalibur that's similar to Medieval Times, the M&M Factory is cool, Circus Circus has a lot of arcade-like games, there's a shark exhibit at Mandalay Bay, check out the fountain show at the Bellagio (at night out front)...

I guess you can just hang out at Circus Circus all day.

Other than that, I don't know what people do in Vegas when they are under 21.

There was a Gameworks next to the MGM on LVB that was awesome.

It isnt like the Gameworks here, this one was like 3 stories tall, it kicked ass, but I dont know if it is still there.

Will u be 18 by then?
Might get a cool theme park in OR hit up the record stores & see what local rave/circuit party is going on.
Only a couple of 18 & up clubs though.

I'm going in the summer too but just to get hitched and lose a few hundred in the slots. If I was single I'd hit up the Bunny Ranch.

See if your hotel has a cool arcade, or some good in-room movies.

Hang out at the pool.

Walk down the strip and take in the sights and sounds of it all.

Vegas has pretty much reverted to a town for the grownups. You missed the "kid friendly" Vegas by about 5 years.

The New York New York is across the street from the MGM. It actually has some pretty cool things to do if you're not old enough for the casinos. There's an arcade that's kind got a Coney Island theme, and there's a pretty good roller coaster there too.

The MGM also has a great pool area. Check that out. It's like four pools, and lazy rivers. And the gameworks was still there two years ago. Your family won't just bail on you, will they?

I guess you can just hang out at Circus Circus all day.

The Excalibur has the midway, and arcade games as well. At least, they did when I lived there. It's right across the strip from the MGM. MGM used to have a theme park as well. Not sure if they still do though. They also have the Wet-n-Wild water park over by Circus Circus if you can convince your parents to drop you off there for the day. The admission used to be about $23.00. But that was 15 years ago. I'm sure it has gone up.

If you're feeling brave, I'd do what I did during my younger days there. Grow a mustache, and buy some clothes that will help you to look older. Then go casino hopping down the strip with whatever money you have. Try to go to the really crowded resorts. The security will have a tougher time spotting minors there. Just sit down at a poker machine, or slot machine, and start gambling. I used to do it all the time. Whenever a security guard would come over and ask me for ID, I would just tell him I left it at home. The only thing they ever did was just ask me to leave. On to the next casino.

If you're not the brave type, just go to the midway at excalibur and play the midway games. Go check out the forum shops in Caesars Palace. I'm sure they still have the pirate show at Treasure Island, and the Volcano outside the Mirage. Those a both viewable from the sidewalk on the strip. So Is the Water fountain show at the Belagio. You can go ride the roller coaster at New York New York. I guess that's still free. Other than that, your best be is to just go sight-seeing whatever you can to keep yourself busy. You'll find something to do. It's impossible not to.

I was going to mention those, but it's pretty far away from the MGM. But I'm assuming that his parents plan on hanging around the MGM most of the time. If not, definitely a good place to go.

I'd suggest the same. I went there when I was below 18 and I still enjoyed myself. There's still stuff to do, you just have to go and find it.

NASCAR Cafe (like a museum inside and there is some kind of roller coaster ride that leaves from there)
Harley Davidson Cafe (motorcycles move on chains over your head while you eat, and you can sit on one to get your picture taken)
Showcase Mall: M&M World, Coca Cola (you can go inside the huge bottle) and Gameworks
IMAX Theater (I think at the Luxor)
King Tut's Tomb (at the Luxor)
Obelisk Ride (at the Luxor)
Hard Rock Cafe
Cheesecake Factory
Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage
Madame Tussaud's Interactive Wax Collection
rides at Excalibur
Chocolate Factory tour (at Henderson)
Lake Mead (they have an ATV tour that I think you qualify for age-wise and there are jet ski rentals)

And please do the light show at Fremont Street as everyone recommended. You can get a day-pass for the bus that will pick you up on the Strip and take you down there and bring you back. It's about $5 for the whole day, I think, very cheap, and you can ride as many times as you want.

They were building a monorail last time I was there, too, that runs from Mandalay Bay to the other end of the Strip. I think it was supposed to be finished last year. That would be a good way to see everything and get your bearings. You can always go back to the stuff you want to see.

The Treasure Island pirate show is excellent (very crowded - get there early to get a good place to stand to see the show). The fountains at the Belagio are excellent (but they don't run if it's very windy).

Also, check and see if there are any concerts in town during your stay. My friend from Houston and I saw George Strait at the MGM Grand last time we were there (they have a fantastic Arena that is great for concerts).

The Wayne Newton show at the Stardust is well worth the money; I had never cared for Wayne Newton until I saw him live at the Laurie Auditorium years ago. He does a great live show and is outstanding at home in his own theater at the Stardust. I don't know what the age restrictions for his show are, but worth checking out.

There's plenty for under-18s to see and do in Vegas. You just have to look around for it.

Check out that bus! It's cheap and takes you anywhere on the Strip you want to go or all the way downtown to Fremont Street. And, they run every few minutes, every 10 minutes or so (just don't be shocked at anything you might see on the bus, we have seen some really freaky folks on the bus, :lol ). And check out the monorail, too! I don't have any idea what they charge to ride the monorail but I am really looking forward to checking it out on my next trip.

Wait till after dark the first night and go cruise the strip. Collect all the ads for the hookers that they hand out on the corners. The next day start whining incessantly to your dad that there is nothing to do. Make him take you to all the "kids" places. Make sure you walk everywhere so he is too worn out to hang in the casino till 4 in the morning. Make his life miserable. Browse the hooker ads and make your selection. Bi-sexual "friends" are a plus. On the third day tell your dad you will get off his ass and quit whining if he buys them for you while he and mom hit the casino for an all nighter.. Enjoy. don't forget to bag it. You are too young to have it fall off.

it's definitely the best advice I have seen yet. I mean...how uncool is it to go home and tell your friends what a great time you had in Vegas stuffing yourself with chocolate at the M&M store...plus hookers don't cause zits...

That probably depends on the hooker.

Are you flying there or taking your own vehicle? If you've got your own vehicle you can go to the Hoover Dam and/or the Grand Canyon. There are tons of tours for the Grand Canyon, helicopter, canoeing, whatever works for you. Have fun! Oh, you can take a helicopter tour of the strip at night too.

Do you like shows? Like someone suggested, you'll probably like the Blue Man Group (at Luxor). Get there early, there is pre-show entertainment. Also, the Cirque shows are great. We saw 'O' at the Bellagio and 'Mystere' at Treasure Island.

Go to the tower just to the observation deck. You take a cab there. No need for an expensive room. I just book cheap room and use cab's to get to strip and back.

Or going to a Spurs game and not getting a bobble head even though you are a season ticket holder and there are scummy non-season ticket holders who got one.
