Suns release Jim Jackson

Paul Coro
The Arizona Republic
March 1, 2006

The Suns released guard/forward Jim Jackson this morning. Jackson had not played in the past 24 games, dating to Jan. 4 and was unhappy about not being moved at the trade deadline.

Was a major contributor last season, particularly in the playoffs (11 points per game, 32-62 from three-point range) after the injury to Joe Johnson, but had struggled to find his shooting touch this season.

Jackson, 35, is in his 14th year in the NBA.

Did he even play this year? He might have the very first few games....

Yes, he played earlier in the season, but not very well.

He hasn't played since early January, however. They tried to trade him, but couldn't. A deal they had worked out, fell through. Before he started whining, they released him.

I only hope is that he doesn't go to San Antonio, Detroit or Denver (likely first-round opponant). Anywhere else and it won't really matter. My money is on Detroit, though.

Don't think it will be Detroit. They are looking at Tony Delk, if they have not already signed him.

That's fine, but would you rather have Delk or Jackson? Neither has shown much this season, but Jackson has been the better player more recently (as late as last May).

Jackson can fill two positions of need and has more playoff experience than Delk, who can really only play SG anymore.

jackson is way better in the playoffs then freaking tony delk

You have to think about PT here. Neither would get very much.
