Yeah I was trying to figure out how they won with giving up 14 TO's to the Pistons 4. But then I saw 22 off. reb. and was like oh shit. I take it that that was the game right there.

When I seen how badly they were outrebounding us at Halftime I knew it was over. Of course I had faith, but everytime we get beat down on the boards we lose. Might have been a time or two we won under those circumstances when we shot extremely well, but I'm not sure.

If K Mart hit two threes in the 4th quarter against your team you'd be calling it as well. No doubt they pounded us on the glass. There was no fluke about that. But we would have still had a great shot at winning if it weren't for those crazy shots they were hitting.

There were some weird minutes going around for the Pistons. Ben Wallace, who was playing great, didn't even play 10 minutes this game. But Tayshaun Prince, who continues his terrible shooting slump, played 34 minutes. ?? Strange. Ben tends to get tired on road trips, I guess Flip is just making sure he doesn't burn himself out. But I still don't get why Tayshaun played 34 minutes.

...and actually I like our bench. They just need to play more. Lindsey, Dice, Delfino, Evans, and Dale have been a huge boost lately. Plus we've got Delk coming into play now. Unfortunately, they didn't get much of a chance tonight. One thing is for certain, the bench is about 50X better than last year.

BTW, Ruben is going to be huge for them. That guy lays it all out on the court. He is the reason that team had so much energy. He defended Rip as well as I've seen anyone (right up there with Bowen), and he was diving for every loose ball within a mile radius.

I know we've covered this in other threads but trust or no trust you still gotta put your bench on the floor during the regular season. I'm anxious to see how the playoffs go for the Pistons if they finish the season with the starting 5 on the court as much as they are. I've said it before that their training staff deserves a lot of credit for their sustained play.

To Flip's credit, it has been better lately. He has been going 10 deep everynight, no matter how close the game is. Throwing Dice/Hunter/Evans/Delfino/Davis out there for extended periods of time. Tonight they was a bit different. They went 9 deep, but Dice was struggling with his shot, and for some reason Delfino/Evans didn't get a ton of minutes.

I think the definition of an airball is a missed shot that doesn't touch the rim, net, or backboard. There are many fine basketball dictionaries out there to gain basketball knowledge.

Well honestly I can't say I am not worried about DAL. It was obvious that the pistons and the spurs are two best teams in the league in the first two months of this season. But now the reality is: DAL is playing very well. We can't be sure they will play like this in the playoffs but we also can't say they won't. I think most pistons fans didn't care much when we lost to the DAL by 37 points earier because we didn't count them as our playoffs opponent. But after we beat the spurs twice this year and after we realize the DAL has just one more loss than us, I start to consider them dangerous. I still can't figure out what was the problem we lost like that. Let's see what will happen when we play them later in March.
But don't get me wrong. I am not saying DAL>SA. I always respect the spurs. I only root for the spurs other than the pistons. And I really wanna see the pistons and the spurs in the finals again this year.

To all DAL fans on this board. I respect your team and I consider DAL, SA AND DET as the best teams right now. But don't be too cocky before the DAL prove they can suceed in the playoffs. History tells the truth not the current regular season record.

Dude I watch a lot of Pistons games and I think it wasn't a smart move. Many of your Piston fans agree except for that gay Pistonfan1 guy. I didn't know the Pistons were so bothered by salary that they trade their backup point guard and future center for a bum. Give me a reason why this was a good trade? The only thing I can think of is after the season when they have to lock themselves up for signing Ben Wallace and Tayshaun Prince. Detroit's salary will be so concentrated on those 5 players that they won't have a bench.

Denver wanted this one bad, and took it. It happens. <yawn>. I'm worried about the inside game, but I've been worried about that since November and the Stones have gone 47-10 with that "soft" middle I've been worrying about :depressed .

I'll worry about the Mavs sometime later, maybe; thus far, they've done about as well against the Pistons as ATLANTA did after one game year (eeek! Fear the mighty HAWKS!!!). The sky is not falling, the end is not near, the Finals will be Pistons/Spurs, all is still right in the basketball world.

What other deals were out there? Darko was going to leave next year anyway...

You know the Ps won't go over the cap(luxury tax) because of Davidson, so he really had no choice if he wanted to sign Ben/Chauncey. It isn't like Joe has free reign like Isiah does...

Firstly, the stupid move was in trading Darko. We will regret this for the next 10 years at least.

Secondly, I fail to see how getting rid of him and Arroyo in exchange for Cato and a protected first is a good trade. Darko was a #2 pick, and we gave up a first rounder in acquiring Arroyo. And all we got in return is a guy who will probably not play except for maybe 5 minutes here and there against Shaq.

thats a big F in my book. If getting rid of Darko was in the plans all along, we could have taken up Atlnata on their Darko for Harrington offer. At least then we'd get a proven commodity in return. He could have definetly helped us this year, or we could have traded him. Either way, he has more value than Cato and their 1st. And when you consider Dumars and his drafting record, are you really all that excited to see who he drafts?

Miami is getting their shit together. I am starting to doubt if Detroit will get to the finals.

Miami is going to be a tough out no matter how they play in the regular season...

Detroit will be right there at the end, keep talkin shit.

Game 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals will be in Detroit.

I sure hope it's Det vs Sas in the finals, but it isnt because I fear the Mavs. I just like the Spurs alot more than the Mavs and I'd rather have a rematch of last years finals!

I'm not gonna worry about the Mavericks beating the Pistons until I see both teams on the court IN THE FINALS and see something to be worried about...And that's quite aways away as of now. :smokin

Any team with Shaq and Wade on them is a threat. Regardless of their regular season record. Wade is CLUTCH, and as we well know he can really burn you if he gets hot.

Hey mavsfan1000, do some research before you post.
Darko has not being used since he came to the pistons. The reason is that we already have Sheed, Big Ben and Dice. He needed a lot of minutes to develope but with the starting five the pistons have, he wouldn't and he won't get time. Should we trade one of the big man away to let Darko play more? Or should we let him sit on the bench for few more years because we know he is the future of the pistons? Evenif we want to he wouldn't. HE WAS FRUSTRATED AND HE SAID IN AN INTERVIEW THAT THE DAYS IN DETROIT WAS A NIGHTMARE. We have to accept this trade because it's a smart move that is both good to the pistons and Darko. And we signed Delk yesterday to be our back up PG. He is better than Arroyo.
And one more mistake in your post. Prince already has resigned with the pistons. We need to resign Ben and Chauncey.
Oh one more mistake. WE DO HAVE A BENCH. Maybe is not good as the DAL, but we do have help from the bench. Dice, Hunter are the playoff puzzel we can't miss. This year we also add Evans, Delfino, Dale Davis, Cato and Delk.

I never said it was a good or a bad trade. But remember, it's only been a week...

Strictly MO, I think Davidson had a little something to do with Darko being moved all of a sudden. I think the Pistons brass got fed up with the sulking/partying and forced Joe's hand...

Compared to Dallas or the Spurs the Pistons have a cush schedule remaining. Hard to see them not having homecourt advantage. And the road to the east for the Pistons should be a cake walk. The West playoffs is going to be a mother.

Dumars got lucky in finding a gem in some players but trading Darko has to be the stupidest thing I've seen in a while. At least get something other than that bum Cato guy. You also lost your backup point guard.

Dumars has very little blame in this. Darko's agent came to Dumars over a month before the deadline and asked for a trade. He couldn't do much about it. First and foremost the blame falls on Darko himself. He is at a completely different level effort wise in Orlando. He was a lazy ass here. Had he worked this hard in his minutes in Detroit, he would have been playing. Second is Larry Brown. There needed to be a point when he saw some reward for what he did in practice. Once it gets to the point where it looks like Darko was giving up on the season, LB needed to do something to fix it. Third is Flip. Same situation as LB. He should have thrown in a bone here and there.

Dumars isn't the kind of guy that will force a coach to play someone, and you can't really complain about the results. That is a big reason why the chemisty on the team is so good. Because Dumars holds everything together, and doesn't try to coach from the front office. He puts the players in place, and lets the coach do his thing. At this point Dumars could see that Darko wasn't going to play, so he had to cut his losses and get what he could for him. That was the pick.

And losing Arroyo isn't a big deal. He was out of the rotation with Lindsey coming back anyways. The guy turned our defense to garbage everytime he came in the game anyways.

I really liked that part when you said Delk is better than Arrojo. Delk equals scrub. Dale Davis is old to and the rest Flip isn't given a chance to. Glad to know Flip is developing the bench.:rolleyes

I havent even seen Delk play here, and I think its already safe to say that he's better than Arroyo was (knock on wood)

He just didnt fit in here, he'll do much better in Orlando where he's a better fit. He has been solid there already.

I believe both DET and SA are well playoff tested teams. Either will win with or without homecourt advantage.
However the MIA and DAL haven't been through the playoffs and won anything together, so this is the pistons' and spurs' advantage.
Let's see if the DAL will be last year's PHX. If they really beat the spurs in playoffs then the pistons are in real trouble.

We don't need any more young and developing players on the bench in the playoffs. This is a champ contender so they need experienced player who have mental toughness to play with consistency. Arroyo is not the answer. Dale Davis and Cato will probably be used as defender when Ben Wallace and Sheed are in foul trouble. Delk hasn't played all season but he is not bad according to his stats. The pistons are a defensive team so Arroyo just don't fit period.
The Orlando Magic is really the right place for Darko and Arroyo. They need 20+ mins a game not 0-5 mins. I am glad to see them playing well there.

Hey rayray, other than the pistons board, only the spurs board worth my time to read and post. Have you been to the heat board? Those heat fans hate the pistons as if the pistons have killed their father. Most spurs fans talk with sense but they don't.
Well I will come here tomorrow night to pump the spurs up! Go beat the Dallas!
