this is from the espn.com article of tonight's game.

The 7-foot Nowitzki, defended most of the night by 6-foot-7 Bruce Bowen, shot only 6-for-15.

"He can put pressure on you knowing that he's got two 7-footers right behind him," said Nowitzki, referring to Duncan and Nazr Mohammed. "Every time I tried to post him up, they came with a 7-footer to help on the baseline."

......or does excuse making run in mavs fans blood. such a revelation

I don't see an excuse there. Dirk recognizes that Bowen can be aggressive knowing that he has a safety blanket. He also is acknowledging that the Spurs brought some doubles when he got near the post. It's not excuse-making, as far as I can tell.

Dude everything I say you think is an excuse. It is just stating the facts.

Actually that was true. Dirk did try to go to the post, but as I mentioned earlier, the Spurs sent a big to double every time he tried. They didn't really let Dirk get within 7 feet of the basket.

Dirk did try to post up, a couple of times. They sent a double team and he folded.

My definition of "try to post up" doesn't mean to get the ball down low and pass it out a couple times.

Once Dirk passes out of a double team the mavs should have the advantage. It wasn't the case though and the mavs weren't making shots.

Dirk absolutely sucks in playing out of a post double team, probably from years of being a soft assed outside shooter and never learning the craft of a big man.

Dirk sucks passing out of the post? Isn't he averaging more assists than Duncan this season? If not they have to be pretty close.. so does Duncan suck too?

Dirk posted up several times outside the arc.

the spurs, when they are playing well, play inside out. the mavs rotate the ball well too, but they don't have a consistent low post threat. duncan may not get an assist hockey style if an extra pass is made after he passes out, but that is just how the spurs play - like they did down the stretch last night.
