The Education of the President: Bush On Pakistan
It was only a matter of time. While speaking in India prior to departing for Pakistan, Bush revealed his lack of familiarity with South Asia:

“I believe that a prosperous, democratic Pakistan will be a steadfast partner for America, a peaceful neighbor for India and a force for freedom and moderation in the Arab world,” the president added.

Later, White House press secretary Scott McClellan told reporters that Bush meant to say Pakistan would be a force for freedom and moderation in the Muslim world. Pakistan is not an Arab country.

The chimpanzee in chief needs to be kept in Crawford and not let out on the world stage. This buffoon is an embarassment to all but his cult like followers.

Pakistan isn't much of a Democracy either, but don't tell Dubya that, he's on a world tour to rock, you know, like Bodi Miller.

When was the last time W stared at Laura that way?

Well, assuming your desire to see Cheney replaced comes true, who do you believe will replace him?

It's not my desire, but if the NeoCons want to put a candidate that they feel is electable in 08 (because Cheney and his 18% approval rating isn't), then they have little choice but to cast Cheney into the wings, where he does most of his work anyway, and pick a candidate who is electable. As I posted in the 'The Fix is in for 08' thread, it doesn't matter who they pick, because the electronic voting machines will turn a semi-electable candidate into a sure thing, and just as they have completely ignored the rampant problems with electronic voting, the corporate media will shill themselves for the new appointed leader.

What happens if the other side wins in '08? Did they gain control of the system?

I see very little difference between Hillary (or the Clintonistas) and Dubya (neocons). So the best way to make sure their candidate wins is to fix both sides. This is why I suspect we are being bombarded with Republican stories of Hillary already being the decided candidate for Democrats in 08 - which I don't believe for a second is the case.

So now the other side is a part of the conspiracy.

The 99.9% of the country to the right of Dan are part of the conspiracy.

99.9% of the American people are subverting the will of the majority and destroying democ...

What other side? There are only two sides, The Party of Devos and the 95% of rest of us who never get the candidates we really want.

The U.S. isn't one either but that doesn't stop everyone from calling it one.

The US is not a democracy?

That's news to me, Yoni.

All these years I've been living under a dictatorship and I was not aware of it.

I thought you guys got to elect your president every four years. In Pakistan, the president got there by force and has been ruling the country ever since.

I see a difference between the two systmes.

So if Bush called Pakistan a democracy, his statement is ignorant (maybe he'll want to refer to Cuba as one too).

The United States is a Federal Republic. We practice a form of Democracy, Representative Democracy, but to call the United States a Democracy wouldn't be entirely correct.

Why didn't Bush just rush the bowler before he even had the chance to hit him? Everyone knew he had the ball and was going to throw it....
