People around the country (including Spurs fans) gave up on the Spurs finishing with homecourt advantage throughout. Now they just need to play like they usually do in the second half of the season and they'll be right there.

And even if Dallas win against us in april, we will have the tie-breaker against them.

If the Spurs can tear up the March schedule, they're looking at an April with 7 of the final 10 games played at home.

We're actually still two losses back. Detroit owns the tiebreaker on the Spurs.

I have a feeling this race for the best record is going to be close to the very end. Go Pistons!

Peter

Obviously all of the remaining games are important, but the next 3 games on the road trip are crucial. Should the Spurs sweep those that would cement the ground they've made up since last Thursday on the Mavs and Pistons.

If the Spurs can tear up the March schedule, they're looking at an April with 7 of the final 10 games played at home.

If we can be 3-1 on the next 4 games, the rest of the month isn't too difficult with team like Houston, Golden State, Portland and seattle out of the race for the playoffs.

Duncan seems to be more healthy (see Ludden article today), Manu will be back soon, Horry too and Nazr/Rasho isn't that bad at center : SPAM.

The road trip at the end of the month is a bear in terms of the # of games (5). Three of those will be against teams with above .500 records. But none of those teams are among the elite and the last two are in LA (2 games in 3 days).

Bruno
03-05-2006, 06:19 PM
The Denver game will be difficult : b2b on the road, altitude, against a physical team (even more with Paterson and Evans).
The Clippers game won't be an easy one.

Peter

The margin for error is quite small at this point.

But we must all have confidence in our spurs. I really think they are turning it on now - even though Tim isn't dominating and Manu is still off, the energy, the effort, the heart, that killer instinct that wasn't there earlier in the season seems to be shining brightly now.

Go spurs!

Only the white people North of 1604 gave up on them.

I take offense to that.

Just because you're geographically closer doesn't mean you're any more of a fan. It's a minimum of a 30 minute drive to any spurs memorabilia dealer (Academy is the closest) and an hour to get to the AT&T Center.

Aside from currently holding the head-to-head tiebreaker, the Spurs are now 6 losses up in terms of conference record -- the Spurs have 4 losses against the West; Dallas has 10.

Take care of business, though, and tiebreakers don't matter . . . .

Doesn't division record go ahead of conference record this year?

Doesn't division record go ahead of conference record this year?

I thought I heard something about that and have been looking for an answer to that question, but haven't had any success finding it. For now, both ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/matchups) and CBS Sportsline (click on tiebreaker link) (http://www.sportsline.com/nba/standings/playoffrace) still list conference record as the 2nd tiebreaker in the context of covering the 2006 playoff race.

dreck_7,

fuck you. T_pork quits, gives up on the Spurs, and lies about it.

I didn't give up, ever, but when the Spurs, esp Tim and his open-ended PF, were looking like mediocrities, and 4 games behind the Pistons, only a few weeks ago, only blind homers who look at overall record and not how games are played, could be confident that Finals HCA was in reach.

The Spurs still must end up with a better record than Pistons, since Pistons swept the season series.

If the Spurs don't end up with Finals HCA, their best chance will be to steal back HCA by splitting the first 2 @Auburn Hills, and then try to go back to Auburn Hills up 3-2. Even if it's not approved by the FDA, that a damn good Plan B. It would really discourage the Pistons to play for Finals HCA all season, then have it taken away with one loss in the first 2 games.
