the Clips has completely shut the Spurs ball rotation right now.

TP w/ only 2 assts and Beno w/ 1? Only Duncan has control w/ 5.

33 Clips-21 Spurs on rbds too!

Not going to happen. Unlike the championships teams, this team has no character, no dominant post player, and absolutely no effort or respect for their opponents. Simply pathetic. I have only seen maybe 2 or 3 complete games out of this team all year long.

Not being a fair-weather fan. Just stating the truth. The Spurs have hardly shown any effort all year. All I ask for as a fan is effort. I don't care if they lose as long as they put forth effort. Effort is not in the Spurs' vocabulary as of yet.

some of you are the worst "fans" i've ever encountered. if you hate the spurs so much, go root for another team.

personally, i think the spurs have been playing great the six games previous to this one. i can live with a back-end of a back-to-back on the road and some ridiculous reffing.

The warning signs for this one were there. They got outrebounded and outhustled vs the Lakers too, and settled for a lot of outside shots. They just him 'em all yesterday. The bigs have had a couple of bad days on the boards. I'm not going to be all upset like everyone else, even the best teams are allowed to lose one every now and again.

These refs are the dumbest mofos ever. First they call a bs foul on Tim, talk about it for a while, and decide the Spurs aren't in the penalty, so the Clips inbound the ball, Livingston gets fouled and makes the shot, so it should be an and-1.
But in the process of calling that foul, they realize that actually the Spurs were in the penalty when Duncan fouled Brand, so they put 3 seconds back, wipe away Livingston's shot and Brand goes to the line for 2. What kind of insane shit is that?! (and it beneffited the Spurs) :)

Foul trouble and Beno getting lit up like a Christmas tree was too much to overcome. But I liked how the Spurs fought at the end. They aren't going to win them all and a second game of a back-to-back against one of the best teams in the league is an acceptable loss.

Not good to get clobbered in March by a team that's lost twice as many games.

Spurs could end up playing the Clips in first round.

Suns will be primed and ready, having knocked off the Mavs already this week. Knocking off the Spurs without Amare and Thomas would give Suns a lot of confidence.

Lakers will be wanting revenge against the Spurs' fluke shooting %age.
Phil was right. Spurs couldn't hit their 3Gs tonight, and lose.

True, it wasn't Tony best assist night, but to say that he is trying to be the man is flat out stupid. Tony does what the coaching staff wants him to do. Manu is not even close to all the way healthy and says he's still having trouble being aggressive as he wants to be.

this ones on pop. two mismatches ending the 3rd, causing us to spot them 10 pts going to the fourth. ain't no way we were gonna win this one even shooting like we did last night. couldn't make any stops when it counted and horry left brand alone countless times. shades of coasting. why do we have such a hard time with back to back road games? btw, we're dropping the phoenix game friday. Pop waited too long to Bowen on Cassell.

3 games with not that many left is way too much ground to make up for against detroit. i cant see detroit fucking up 3 more times with us winning 3 more times on the times they lose. cuz we're gonna lose again on a night they either win or are idle. FUCK, i really wanted hca in the playoffs, we aren't gonna win a game 6&7(if we get that far) in auburn hills

Theyve lost 13 out of 60 games.

They have the best record in franchise history.

NO TEAM

04 05
02 03

has been this good record wise, at this time.

Time to panic no question.

whoaa! the Spurs lost.:cry

well back-to-back is really bad for this team, huh!

well, just 1 game loss after the all-star game right now.

Take it easy.

the only good thing for this loss is Elton Brand(one of my fav players), might win the MVP over Dirk & co. this yr for beating Tim's team and having a big game again.

I'm kind of pissed over those fouls on TD :cuss he was like frozen on defense after his 3 fouls. Refs where r u? grrrrr!

Kori: here's what i'm worried about.....

game 1 @ detroit: spurs L
game 2: @detroit spurs L

(i hope we can get a split somehow, its not impossible)

game 3: spurs win
game 4: spurs lose
game 5: spurs win

game 6 at det: spurs lose

With the Spurs play right now I don't see much the Spurs can do against the Pistons in a 7 game series. And I'm kind of doubting if they can hold up against Dallas as well.

Spurs were one of the best home teams ever last season. The Pistons didn't even finish with the best record in the East ... hell, they started 11 and 11 or whatever.

All that being said, the Pistons were a few breaks from beating the Spurs without HCA.

Way to have faith in your team. It's March and you're already predicting Finals doom. For all we know Tim could kick his PF by that time. Or Manu becomes Super Manu again... you never know. Man I thought I was a pessimist. Jesus...

LJ, the thing is man, SA has been impressive if you factor in the injuries but i just can't see duncan gettin back to a health good enough where he can be a serious OFFENSIVE factor against detroit. cuz i dont care how good tp and manu play, without duncan doing better than his very sub standard stats, we'll be screwed against detroit. i'm grateful det's been lookin vulnerable lately but when SA steps onto the court they're out for blood and are much better than last year, in my opinion

no no dude i'm a little bitch in the pessimistic department. lik ea bonafide drama queen. you have no idea. i'm like this for the spurs since 98. i'm here to balance out all the "regular season doesn't matter, spurs peak in march" homer boardies. when the regular seaosn is what gives you HCA which can define how you do in the playoffs. and yes, the clippers loss sucked but b2b's are tough. its just irritating that everytime we take a tiny step towards detroit, we take 10 steps back less than a week later making oru previosu wins feel void

That's still like three months away. Anything can happen between now and then. To worry about it now is thinking way to far into the future. Spurs need to finish the season strong and stay injury free.

This time last year Tim Duncan was injured with what looked like a severe ankle sprain and the Heat and the Suns appeared to be in much better position to win it all.

Things change.

wow. i'm gonna honest with you

out of anything anyone has ever said to me on these boards to raise my hopes that was up there with the best of them b/c you bring up soem good points. but the problem is that i never had any doubts about detroit last year until game 7 in terms of us beating them. but with the way the finals are set up 2-3-2 is it sometimes better to not have HCA? although game 6 and 7 on the road can break you

They have to take one out of the first two, then ideally sweep at home, but more realistically take two of three, and then win game 6 so it never gets to a game 7...

We've discussed how tough back-to-back games are in the NBA forum a couple of times and this is one of the points made there.

Fact: The Spurs are now 4-7 in back to back games this year and 3-7 when the 2nd game of the b2b is on the road

Fact: The Spurs record excluding the 2nd game of b2b's is 43-6

Fact: There are no back-to-back games in the playoffs.

Conclusion: Don't get stressed out over the results of the 2nd game of b2b's.

The attitude in this thread is typical after a loss. It's amazing what 24 hours can do to some people's outlook on things.

Wow, people are stressing out. Look, the Spurs are right in the thick of things in terms of their record, with one more home game against Dallas to seal HCA with them. Our defense is tightening up, ball movement is getting more fluid, Manu is becoming more of a factor, and TP is off the charts. It's only the beginning of March and the Spurs still have a lot of room for improvement. Would you want them to be peaking now? Because there's no way they could maintain playoff-level intensity in March and April and still have any juice left for May and June.

The Spurs never were going to catch Detroit in the first place. The Spurs have been on a long hot streak, while the Pistons have gone through their lull for this season, and the Spurs only got within a game.

Probably the year will end with the Pistons around 66-16 and the Spurs around 63-19.

Looking forward on the schedule, I suspect half this board to be suicidal by 10:30 PM Friday night. Winning in Phoenix will be a difficult task on Thursday, then on Friday the Spurs play their fourth game in five nights against the Lakers back @ at&t. The limits of human endurance dictate they will suffer their fourth home loss that night. I imagine for Timmy, playing the back end of a back-to-back back-to-back, he'll put up about 4 points on 2-9 shooting and a rebound, and foul out while letting the Lakers shoot layup drills over him in a 97-81 loss, while the rest of the Spurs are totally gassed by the middle of the third quarter.

They could have a three-game losing streak, which really would mean nothing except that the schedule was unfavorable for that week, but I doubt many here will see it that way. I imagine we'll hear, "WAAAHH ALL IS LOST THE MAVERICKS ARE GOING TO BEAT US WAAAHH I CAN'T BEAR IT CUBAN IS GOING TO WIN WAAAHH I'M TOO ASHAMED TO SHOW MY FACE!!!"
