Hi Kori-
Hubby just told me that he heard the suns have the flu. He said Marion is questionable according to suns report--didn't hear who else.

Suns injuries: Steve Nash (right ankle sprain) and James Jones (sore right foot) are day to day. Amare Stoudemire (left knee surgery), Brian Grant (right knee surgery), Kurt Thomas (right foot stress fracture), Nikoloz Tskitishvili (right ankle sprain) and Dijon Thompson (sore right knee) are out.

Suns projected inactive list: Stoudemire, Thomas and Thompson.

Key matchup: Tim Duncan vs. Boris Diaw. At 6-foot-8, 215 pounds, Diaw hardly looks like at a center. But after two forgotten seasons in Atlanta, he's one of the NBA's most versatile players. Diaw had 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Sunday's victory over Dallas while playing good defense on Dirk Nowitzki. He's guarded Duncan for stretches in both of the teams' previous meetings, sometimes using his athleticism to front him. Duncan averaged 21.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in the two games

so, there's a chance Nash might play tonight. Good.

i hope Duncan will have a good game. And the Spurs finish the game scratch-free.

San Antonio @ Phoenix 10:30 pm

0-6 The Suns are 0-6 in games decided by three points or less.

.472 and .426 The Spurs are currently pulling off an impressive combination of having the third best shooting percentage in the NBA (.472), while holding their opponents to the lowest field goal percentage from the field in the league (.426). The last time that a team finished the season first in both categories was in the 1980-81 campaign (76ers).

1 Suns forward Shawn Marion is the only NBA player ranked in the top 20 in points, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goal percentage and minutes. He's averaging career-high 22.0 points (16th in the NBA), career-high 12.3 rebounds (2nd), 1.8 assists, 1.95 steals (T-4th), career-high 1.86 blocks, 46 double-doubles (1st), career-high .518 FG in 41.3 minutes (5th) in 2005-06…

1-1 The Spurs and Suns have split the season series in 2005-06, with the home team winning both times.

3 Suns forward Boris Diaw could become one of three NBA players averaging at least six rebounds and six assists. His 12.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists (T-17th), .515 FG in 34.4 minutes per game are all career highs. Diaw, who has two-triple doubles in 2005-06, became only fourth NBA player (Jason Kidd, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade) to accomplish that feat multiple times this season with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists at Dallas on March 5.

7 Seven Suns are averaging career highs in points per game this season, including Phoenix point guard Steve Nash, whose 3.9 point per game scoring increase represents the second highest ever following an MVP campaign. Larry Bird posted the greatest increase (4.5 ppg, 1985-86).

7 Seven Suns are listed with injuries: Nash (right ankle sprain) is day-to-day; James Jones (right second sore metatarsal phalangeal joint); Amaré Stoudemire (left knee surgery) is out; Brian Grant (right knee surgery) is out; Nikoloz Tskitishvili (right ankle sprain) is out; Kurt Thomas (right foot stress fracture) is out; Dijon Thompson (right knee loose bodies) is out

12.3 Recently acquired Suns forward Tim Thomas is averaging 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.67 blocks in 26.0 minutes in 3 games with Phoenix.

16-4 The Spurs are a league best 16-4 (.800 winning percentage) in games decided by 6 points or less. Nice!

22 Phoenix has reached the century mark in scoring in 22 consecutive games, the most in the NBA since the 1994-95 San Antonio Spurs (22). Should the Suns reach the century mark tonight, it would be the NBA’s longest 100-point streak since the 1992-93 Suns did it 43 games in a row.

25 and 11 The Suns are a season-best 25 games above .500 and are on a pace to finish with 58 wins. Phoenix’s current 11-game win streak matches club’s longest since rattling off 11 victories in a row from Dec. 5-26, 2004 and is the longest active winning streak in the NBA.

61 If the Spurs win tonight against the Suns they will set the record for the best record through 61 games in team history, which was set by last year's club, who went 47-14 through 61 games.

98-85 The Spurs were on a seven-game winning streak before falling to the Clippers, 98-85, in their last contest on March 7.

1990-91 Nash could become the first NBA player since Magic Johnson (1990-91) to average at least 19 points and 11 assists per game this season. Nash is currently averaging 19.4 points and 10.8 assists per game.

2005 The two clubs met in the 2005 West Finals, which the Spurs easily captured, 4-1.

Nash, Barbosa out vs. Spurs

Paul Coro
The Arizona Republic

Steve Nash will miss his first game of the season tonight against San Antonio because of the ankle he sprained in Monday's game but the Suns got even worse news when Leandro Barbosa went to the emergency room at a local hospital this evening with a right groin injury.

James Jones, who missed last game with a toe joint injury, will start the game in place of Nash. That likely leaves skillful center Boris Diaw and shooting guard Raja Bell to run the offense until Eddie House enters the game. Andre Barrett, at the end of a 10-day contract, may also see some time tonight.

Nash had not tested the sore right ankle until this evening but it was not ready to go.

"It's precautionary," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "He's just not 100 percent. We're not going to parade him out there."

The Suns have four games in five days starting Sunday.
