Too bad AJ doesn't get credit for the 1999 season. He was the real coach of that team. Pop was just his puppet.

if AJ was so fucking good then how come he couldnt lead the Spurs to the Finals in any of his other seasons?

AJ was an adaquet PG with average skills who happened to play with 2 great big men

I think I agree with this statement.

For starters, if not for AJ, Doc Rivers would've finished that season as head coach.

AJ recruited his buddy ME to join that team, which was huge.

AJ was certainly the de facto offensive coach. Spurs fans seem to forget how the point dominated the rock during that point in Spurs' history.

Also, when Pop steps down I hope the Spurs can replace him with AJ.

AJ spent his entire career being associated with other teams besides the Spurs. His career took him to Seattle, then to Denver, then to San Antonio, then to Houston, then back to San Antonio, then to Golden State, then back to San Antonio for the third time and his longest stint with any one team, then back to Denver, over to Dallas, back to Golden State and lastly back to the Mavs.

That is ELEVEN moves with six different NBA franchises. While it appears AJ may not have always most loved, it is clear he never burned any bridges.

I would like to see Pop coach the Raptors. Without Duncan we'll see how good a coach Pop is.
