WASHINGTON, DC - League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Senior Vice President for Political Affairs and Public Education Tony Massaro today issued the following statement after President Bush nominated Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne to be his Secretary of Interior.

"During his career in Congress, Governor Kempthorne earned a paltry 1% lifetime LCV score. Enough said."

This is the guy who is supposed to look over the Nation's natural assets our fore-fathers have fought to preserve.

Was anybody surprised that "comically anti-environment" Westerner was selected to continue rapiing the environment?

This is like dubya appointing energy industry lobbyists to the BLM to write land leases at a rate that far exceeds the energy industry's ability to exploit the leases.

In charge of the henhouses, the Repugs appoint foxes as security guards.

Yeah, like he would nominate a Green Peace person to the job, right. You people
live in a dream world. We are now suffering because of people like you, save the
environment so we can go back to the stone ages.

xrayzebra is too stupid and conservative to learn about or acknowledge the idea of "sustainable development" or the color "gray".

League of Conservation Voters

The nonprofit League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is the independent political voice for the environment. LCV, which is not a partisan organization, is the only national organization working full-time to advocate for sound environmental policies and to elect pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies. For more information, please visit us on the web at www.lcv.org.

Yeah, god forbid we should put a person who cares about the environment in charge of the forests... :rolleyes

We can't have THAT happening now, can we?

I mean how else could the administration funnel money to their contributors if not by letting their main campaign donors write policy?

My two-cents worth, people who endorse lax environmental policies are IDENTICAL to people who rack up massive credit card bills without any regards towards the long term ramifications.

Nope I don't pray at the alter of convenience. But I sure don't want the
kook environmentalist running things either. But as seen in replies to my
little post we have our share of kooks in here who do. Look at what the
environmental laws that make a scarcity of things that are not scarce and
prevent people for doing things on their OWN land that cost them money.
Look at San Antonio and the water issue. Look at how much we pay
for water here in San Antonio, for what the Sierra club wants. Claiming
some wild rice and little fishies are going to suffer. They also don't want
anyone to cut a tree down for lumber, when we have more forest land now
than ever. Wonder if any of you wacko's will ever learn some common
sense.

i think the issue is more complex than what your 4th grade intelligence of enivironment and save the whale's lisa frank posters have lead you to believe. Conservation is great. But radicalism has also halted the expansion of Nucleur energy in which it would of helped wean us off energy dependence from the Mid east.
