This is a new feature on spurs.com I thought the game day portion was interesting since it shows some of what goes on behind the scenes. :)

Laura: A Day In The Life
Hey Spurs fans, my name is Laura and I am a seven year veteran and a captain of the Silver Dancers. I’m excited to share with you a little bit about me and the - “Day in the Life of a Silver Dancer”. In the coming weeks, a different dancer will be showcased to give you a sneak peak to what we do best. I hope you will enjoy! Thanks for your continued support and applause. Best Wishes!
Saturday, February 25th,
Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors:
8a - Good morning! It’s Saturday, and always very difficult to get out of bed! But I have a 9:30a appearance for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center "Be a Champion, Be a Donor" Blood Drive. I needed to primp and get ready quickly to leave with enough time to arrive promptly to the Academy, where the drive was being held. Even though the weather out is rainy and cold, the volunteers and donors were out there, waiting to donate and try their luck at Spurs tickets and treated with Spurs memorabilia.
10a - I went home to have breakfast with my parents. My dad was making breakfast, so I arrived just in time! I chatted for a while, checked some e-mail, printed out a copy of our game day duties and left behind tickets for the game that night.
11a - On my way back home I had to stop at a nearby Walgreen's to buy game day necessities. Pantyhose, lashes, and of course a red-bull (a must have for the long day ahead).
Pantyhose ? :wow
11:30a - Back at my place, I had scheduled movers to deliver some furniture I recently purchased. My roommate and I where patiently waiting for them to arrive.
1-3p - I had 2 hours to shower, have a light lunch, prepare my game bag and start on my make-up and hair. That evening we were to have minimal time to get ready for the game. Tonight, we have Jr. Silver Dancers and are expecting close to 500 girls ready to show their stuff. These girls are the product of our first Silver Dancer clinic of the season which was held in January. I was nervous; I concentrated on the high school (their dance was more advanced), so I worried if they had practiced, and if they remembered their formations. And I had my own routines to remember since we were performing that night also!
3:45p - Court-time! I arrived early to court-time, which was scheduled for 4pm that night because of all the additional activities of the night. I stretched, and actually started putting on my first uniform before we would run through our dances during our court-time. This evening would be a little different, 8 of us dancers would not do our usual pre-game duties which include: Spurs hour at Headlines, meeting and greeting at front doors, autographs and club 200. Half of the team would still be taking care of those duties, the rest of us were to help our choreographer Raquel Garcia with the anxious Jr. Silver Dancers awaiting us.
5:15p - The eight girls that did JSD were to report to the front entrance of the arena, to greet the girls as they arrived. It’s always exciting to see the girls primped up, with a touch of make-up, big fluffy ponytails and bows! Everyone looked great! We took tons of pictures with the girls as we organized them in to age groups. It was the beginning of a long and busy night.
6-7p - This hour was holding time where we arranged set-up lines and line-moms in order to get on to the court as rehearsed at our previous clinics. Tonight, my main mission was to take care of any situation on hand to take some stress and work off of the choreographer’s hands. There was so much going on and little time left. There was much to do because of the large number of Jr. Silver Dancers. The 5-12-year-olds were to perform before the game and the 13-18-year-olds were to perform at half time. As performance time grew nearer, the girls anxiously awaited to perform! I was so excited for them all.
I have a couple of girls that have come to Jr. Silver Dancers since my first year on the team - 7 years ago! Some of them started at the age of 5, just meeting the minimum age requirement, and I have been able to watch them grow up since then. It really humbles me to have those relationships and I’m so honored to have been part of those memories created throughout the years.
7p - Pre-game performance was a success! They all did wonderful and the crowd went crazy as they BUMPED and did the shimmy shake!
7:15p - Wave goodbye! Run to the locker room for a quick touch up!
7:30p - It’s game-time!!! We ran out for introductions and were on stand-by for hot time-outs! Our job was not over though, as the next group of JSD were gathering and prepping for their half-time performance. The Silver Dancers’ first performance wasn’t until the 3rd quarter, but we basically had to be in two places at one time. As I arranged my high school girls for their performance, I also had to be alert as we could go into a hot timeout at any second and I would have to take the floor, so I had to have my eyes in two places at once!
8:30p – Half-time! The girls took the floor and really had an amazing performance! Both middle and high school where awesome! I was proud of my high school girls who did an incredible job with the routine. They practiced and remembered parts and formations, I was so pleased…
9p – The Silver Dancers went on to have a great performance night. We performed once with The Coyote, which is always a crowd pleaser, and we performed a trashy jazz routine to “Do Something”…one of my favorites…
End of Game - Our Spurs went on to beat the Golden State Warriors 92-75 and overall we had an incredible performance night. Thanks to you, the fans, who helped to create an even more special night!
See you at the next game!
