They hate to play like that, but A&M is making them do it.

LSU can play like this but they do not like to. Key is to hammer them inside on the baseline and just beat the crap out of them. Fortunately, Acie and Joe Jones only have 2 fouls at half. Look for LSU to pick up the tempo and for aTm to try to keep it down.

aTm likes the games in the 40s-60s, LSU in the 70s-80s; AK is having a great game so far and if this pace continues, look for the upset. If not, I expect that LSU will win by 10+.

Yo Billy - Keep harassing Davis (#0) and Mitchell (#1), and make the rest of the Tigers try to figure out what to do against that perimeter defense.

LSU seems to be only playing a six man rotation. Bad move in a close, physical game in my opinion. What happens when someone fouls out and you're forced to put guys in that haven't seen the court all day in crunch time?

Billy is on it, but he has to be careful not to run out of fouls. Martellus is playing hack-boy right now. Cannot affor to get into trouble with Jones/AK/Pompey/Kirk, but one of them likely will...

AND, if Big Baby puts on his Big Boy pants, watch out!!!!

Expect the Ags to be walking floor burns after this game.

I will be surprised if the winner scores in the 60s

hussker
03-18-2006, 07:14 PM
AND...Billy Clyde laid it out for the AGS...Do not play to NOT LOSE...play to WIN. That is exactly why the Cinderellas do well in the 64.

aTm is SO "D"...Love watching them, like watching the Spurs... Difference is, aTm cannot turn it up so much on "O" when they need to. They are a good team to watch though and have shown total control of tempo in the first 3 minutes of this second half.

Jones with 4 fouls....BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!!!

Remember that the Dookies hate this sort of tempo even more than LSU does.

That was a good game. Coach Aggie showed no class in the handshake at the end.

I love how the ref let LSU shove Acie out of bounds on our last play. Fucking stripes. Fuck them. Total bullshit.

Aggie Hoopsfan

. Coach Aggie showed no class in the handshake at the end.

When your star player gets shoved out of bounds right in front of the official and the ref sucks his fucking whistle, that's what you get. I hope Billy calls out that officiating crew, total joke.

Aggies have nothing to be ashamed of. They represented very well!!!!!!!

j-6
03-18-2006, 08:26 PM
Good run, Ags. Here's to continued success for your program. Just like in football, it's a lot more fun for us Longhorns when your team is an upper echelon opponent. Which, by the way, I hope there's a new contract sitting in College Station with Billy Gillespie's name on it when he gets home from Jacksonville.

There's no shame in losing to a more talented team when it takes a senior hitting a 28-footer to do you in.

cecil collins
03-18-2006, 08:28 PM
It seems standard for the officials to allow more contact at the end of the game, but that was some shit. They really need to make it a point to change that. Teams know that you're gonna have to murder someone to get called for a foul, so they do everything but.

Not to be too big of a nitpicking fuck here, but with A&M's physical style I don't see how you can ask for calls after 38 minutes of brutal play like that.

And yes, I know what sequence you're talking about.

Jimcs50
03-18-2006, 08:34 PM
They should have thrown the ball down court, take a chance on getting past all the pressure, they would not be able to score throwing the ball where they did.

Cant_Be_Faded
03-18-2006, 08:35 PM
He did get pushed right into the ref though
acie's mistake was not hustling back in bounds, he kinda hestiated, as if he expected a call or wanted to argue with the official

cecil collins
03-18-2006, 08:35 PM
Or get the ball to someone who isn't nervous and falling down before contact even arrived. I know Law was out of the picture, but damn.

I thought that was a horrible inbounds sequence at the end, but I was assuming that everyone in the frontcourt was covered just as tight as the guys in the backcourt. Carter didn't stand a chance due to where he got the ball on the inbound - but at least he got somewhat open for a second.

Cant_Be_Faded
03-18-2006, 08:44 PM
Yeah if I were the inbounder I just woulda chunked it up the court and hoped a player caught and shot real quick

One other thing. When Redick and his merry band o' Dookies run the doors off of LSU next weekend with a typical 80+ point outburst, remember that A&M would have thugged the game out into the high 40's or low 50's.

Defense is the best way to beat the Blue Devils, and I really would have liked to see Duke get beaten around a little rather than a team like the Tigers who will try and run with 'em - and fail.

Ags - Duke would have been such a compelling matchup...a 12th seeded major conference school with dirt under their fingernails against the crown princes of CBS. It's a shame.

Wow, great post.

I'm not sure if we would have had enough to beat Duke, but I think we play hellacious enough defense that we would have been there at the end of the game to try.

LSU will get run out of the fucking gym.

i know
i think it would have been the shit to see a&m totally shut down the chosen ones of the media
it would have been great

It took a tough 30 foot jack over A&M's D to sink them. Man, would've loved to have a shot at Duke right now. Oh well, on to next season.

j-6
03-18-2006, 10:24 PM
Mitchell was 1-for-7 from behind the 3-point line, and LSU was 1-for-11 as a team, before he seemingly launched the 22-footer in desperation.

Damn, that 3 was 26 ft away

I'm happy with the Ags's season. Too bad this had to be Chris Walker's last game, but I think they gave it a good run and did thier best. No shame to be had at all.
