Sorry, I know that most people either hate Stein or just plain don't care, but gotta post it anyhow, just since the Spurs are back on top...

I like Stein.

I couldn't care less about power rankings.

he had a nice little dig at bowen in the weekend dime too, about bowen missing a dunk in 91 vs ucla.

Stein is probably Bowen's biggest fan in the national basketball media.

Thanks. I think the Mavs should have been below the Pistons, though, after that loss to NJ. That was freaky. Especially the first quarter. That was pathetic. The whole game was a lot more pathetic than the score warrants. I love Avery and all, but that was...

I don't know, losing to the Knicks is pretty embarrassing

True. They didn't have quite as pathetic a first quarter as the Mavs did, though. That was like the twilight zone.

Add struggling against the Bobcats, just to ice the cake. The top 3 slots look about right to me.

The pistons have been losing a lot lately. The Mavs just lost to New Jersey so I don't think that is enough to go behind Detroit in the power rankings.

Spurs are 7-3 against the next top 3 rated teams in the West. (Dallas, Phoenix and Denver)

Nuff said.

Does not matter... At the begining of the year he picked Spurs to win it all again. He said the power rankings will prob just end up with Det / Spurs rematch...

He said it during pre-season..

Damn, Pistons clinched their division yesterday and pretty much clinched HC advantage in the East with their 10 game lead on Miami.

[re SA losing eight games to the EC] So have the Mighty Pistons...

They've also played six more games against the EC.

Their magic number (for best record in the East) is nine.

They are 20-8 in the East, a 71% winning percentage.

That is still the 2nd best record in the East, right behind Detroit.

I'm not sure what that proves. Could I turn around and say that the Pistons would have the best record in the west, and then put a laughing face next to it?

As for the rankings, the top 5 look right. Pistons have been playing unmotivated basketball the past few weeks, and the Spurs and Mavs have their division race to keep them in it. I have no problem with being 3rd behind both San Antonio and Dallas at this point.

Possibly in response to overly negative Spurs fans ....
