I remember a somewhat humorous thread started by Manu in late December where he was frustrated by the Pistons fast start of 24-3, his opening comment was "WHY???? OMG CANT THEY LOSE??!!!!!"

Well, they've cooled of substantially since then going 29-10 since Manu's post...<sigh>. Actually nothing to cry over, eh?

Other best records over the last 39
32-7 for S.A.
32-7 for Dallas
29-10 for Detroit
29-10 for Miami
28-11 for Suns

Don't ask me the significance of the post because they're probably isn't any. Just killin' some time before work. :lol .

This was posted by someone on the Pistons board yesterday...

Fast restarts
The NBA's best records since the All-Star break:
Team W L Pct. Home and Away Games Number of back to backs
1. Miami 12-1 .923 8H 5A 1 back to backs
2. San Antonio 12-2 .857 9H 5A 4 back to backs
3. Phoenix 10-3 .769 7H 6A 3 back to backs
4. *Detroit 11-4 .733 6H 9A 5 back to backs
4. Dallas 11-4 .733 8H 7A 3 back to backs
6. Denver 10-4 .714 5H 9A 4 back to backs
7. Sacramento 9-4 .692 5H 8A 1 back to backs
8. New Jersey 9-5 .643 7H 7A 3 back to backs
8. L.A. Clippers 9-5 .643 7H 7A 2 back to backs
10. Washington 8-6 .571 9H 5A 3 back to backs
10. Memphis 8-6 .571 8H 6A 3 back to backs

Has it really been that bad? Looks like dog-days against teams that have "trap" written all over them combined with a lot of road games and back-to-backs. (Not to mention ejections)

On the last 25 games :

Spurs : 21-4 (projection on 82 games : 69-13)
14 away and 11 home.
6 back to backs

Pistons : 17-8 (projection on 82 games : 56-26)
15 away and 10 home
7 back to backs

I think it's obvious that Pistons aren't as great as three month sooner.
I don't say they won't win the title this year (they are still favourites) but facts are here.

29-10 is cold!!!?!?!?!

That win percentage would be good for 5th in the NBA. Not cold at all. It is what teams do when they have a huge lead over their closest competition.

LMAO, seems like everybody can tweak the stats to say whatever they want.

That's why God invented NBA games in June.

Exactly right ...

What are the respective records over the last 3 games? The last 17 games? The last 22 games? The last 36.3 games? The first 30 games? The middle 12 + 5 last home games? Friday games? Second games of back-to-backs?

You take any sample less than the actual full season, you can manipulate them to reflect almost any point you want to make.

Pistons have definitely cooled off from their great start. But, everything must be viewed and evaluated in totality ... best at the end of the season. And, still that is not a guaranteed indicator of who will be the last team standing.
