I am going on a hunch and guess a long small forward.... just a gut feeling

come on where are all the resign Nazr fans? Im sure you're out there.:rolleyes

I'd say dump Nazr and sign or trade for a young 3. This season, we dont have anyone to spot Bowen's mins. Its either Finley or Barry and both get burned on defense.:depressed

But somehow I think Rasho is going. :cry :cry :cry

Even if they somehow miraculously resign Nazr, they'll still need a young, athletic 3 man

Nice, long small forward that plays defense and can hit an open jumper ...

It's not like there's a huge market for that type of player in free agency, especially for the MLE or less. I don't think the Spurs can afford James Posey unless it's a sign and trade. Would Miami do a sign and trade with the Spurs?

Qyntel Woods? DerMarr Johnson? Trevor Ariza? Do any of those players sound appealing? I hope not.

Spurs don't have a first round draft pick this summer either.

So, if the off season priority is a long small forward that defends and can hit open, uncontested jumpers, the Spurs would likely have to trade for one. And, first they have to find a player on another team they like. And, second they have to have trade pieces that the other team wants.

Want someone like Gerald Wallace? What do you have the Bobcats would want? How about James Jones? Think Phoenix wants anything the Spurs have? Think they'll trade with them anyway? How about Rashard Lewis? He's a Texas man and says he wants out of Seattle when he has an option. Part with Manu? Heaven forbid. Andres Nocioni would be nice, eh? Think the Spurs have some Argentinian voodoo they could use to trick the Bulls into taking Brent Barry and Nazr Mohammed (sign and trade) for Nocioni? Me neither.

There is one player the Spurs could get perhaps for the MLE and could be a suitable heir to Bruce Bowen. One player that could fit in on a championship team as a fourth or fifth option One player who plays solid defense and hits open 3-pointers. One player who is young enough to have plenty of miles left in the tank, but is also experienced enough to merit considerable playing time. There is one player I can think of.

Devean George. He's battled a lot of injury over the last two seasons. But, he might be the type of player the Spurs should pursue this summer.

Nightmare thought: a guy fitting this bill demands a trade because he's nailed to the bench, and all of a sudden, somehow....

:wow

Not that Joe would ever let it happen. I hope.

I hope #1 priority in the off season is a spurs staffer having to recompile all the player's finger measurements for the ring ceremony.

Trade Manu to the Heat for Walker. I am sure the Heat will go for it.

Get rid or sign n trade nazr watever we can get out of him, try and trade the bad contracts we dont need for youth

after all of that is done, sign JAVTOKAS! then maybe have a look at Scolas stupit buyout contract situation, doesnt he have like 1 season left on his contract and the owner wants 14million?

#1- Health
#2- Youth
#3- Overseas Prospects (Javtokas and Mahinmi apparently being high on that list)
#4- Bowen replacement (have to know how the overseas folks pan out in the plan first). #2 and #3 and #4 are linked.

trade barry and rasho

Agree, I think we will try to trade them for expiring/capspace/young prospects. It won't be easy to trade Rasho.

Spurs 06-07
PG : Parker/Udrih + 3rd string vet PG (like Wilks)
SG/SF : Manu/Bruce/Finley + 2 young players
PF/C : Duncan/Nazr/Horry/Oberto/Javtovkas/Marks

If Mahinmi is ready : sign him instead of Marks.
If Scola want to come and isn't too expensive : trade Oberto and sign Scola.

Josh Howard

That would be so sweet. Personally, I'm still pissed that the Spurs passed him over in the 2003 draft. I seem to remember, they drafted Leandro Barbosa and traded him to the Suns for a 1st round pick in 2004.

These players IMO will be on our roster next season;

Duncan
Parker
Manu
Bowen
Finley
Horry
Rasho
Barry
Scola
Udrih
Oberto
Marks
One or two IR players

I think Nazr's gone. He's going to get more money elsewhere and I'm sure Pop and RC won't offer him a big contract when they have Rasho on their books and he's not going nowhere. Keep the squad intact if we win it all. If we loose however, then we have to make some changes, i.e. Barry, Rasho.

Could we trade POP for Larry Brown?

I'd love to see how crazy he become with Rasho, Manu and Tony

My thought on these players :
- Posey : No, he is too old, too expensive and isn't a great defender.
- Woods : I don't like him (for th dog story) but he can be a good choice.
- Dermarr johnson : Yes.
- Trevor Ariza : He can't hit a jumper but is young, he will be a restricted free agent this summer and orlando will likely match if they don't draft a SF.
- Gerald Wallace : I don't see how wa can get him and he will be very expensive.
- James Jones : maybe but I don't see Suns making a trade with Spurs.
- Rashard Lewis : He doesn't play defense and will ask for a max contract when he will be a FA in the 07 summer.
- Nocioni : Yes. Bulls will be under the cap, they have no interest to do a S&T for Nazr. Nocioni will be a free agent in the 07 summer : we can go after him at this moment.
- Devean George : I'm not sold on him. I like more Jumaine Jones if we want to sign a solid vet this summer.
