Yea, that was a crappy game. McDyess and Delk were the only reason this wasn't a blowout. Dice had 11 points and 18 rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench, and Delk had 12 points in about 10 minutes.

Sheed and Chauncey were horrible. Combined for 3-of-20. Ben was MIA. Rip was a chucker. Tayshaun was bleh...

Really, the starters have been playing like garbage for at least a month. They handed the bench a 15 point defecit today, and the bench brought it back to within 3, then the starters blew it. Hopefully they snap out of it.

Yup, they did

Nets resorted to pussy ball. Nets up 3 with 5 seconds left, and they foul so we couldn't shoot threes. Oh well. Good to know we still had a chance to win the game, even with Chauncey playing one of his worst games of the year. Didn't score until about 3:30-4:00 left in the game.

What pisses me off though. Our bench kept us in the game, yet only Dice and Delk got any decent minutes in the 2nd half.

Actually, Pistons were up 3 points against the Pacers with seconds left in the game. Same as the Nets were over the Pistons tonight. Pistons elected to defend straight up and not foul. Ben blocked a Danny Granger 3-point attempt as the horn sounded.

Bring the Nets on. The starters spotted them 15 points in the first quarter, everyone played awful offensively, and they still had a great chance to win. In the playoffs I'd imagine the Pistons would actually come to play from the tip.

Yes. What happens if they cut the lead to 1, and steal an inbounds pass, and get the layup, effectively going up 1?

Detroit doesn't choose to foul the 3 pointer in that situation because more often then not, it will not go in. Plus the players trust in their defense to get the job done.

Solid D

What are the odds of the best shooting 3 point team in the NBA of hitting a three, regardless of how well they had shot them during this particular game? Maybe that factored into the equation.

FreshPrince22

I think the Flip Saunders style is wearing off on the Pistons. They might even lose to the Heat.

Something is just up with the starters. The supposed "weak" bench has been stellar lately. They won both games against Miami and Indy, and they were the only reason this wasn't a blowout. The starters are in a serious funk right now. I don't know if it's Flip or just boredom. The just don't have any energy out there untill the final minutes.

Exactly. For all the people saying its great decision(which i think it is, although still pussyball), it's not what every body does in that situation.

Doesn't work that way... The Pistons were only down 2 between the 2 minute mark and the 3 second mark. That would have been up 2, and it would be the Nets intentionally fouling the Pistons instead of the other way around. Simply adding to the final score doesn't factor in the free throws that wouldn't have happend if the Pistons were up.
