Whatever Sylvester Stallone speaks, that should be the national language. How stupid. As long as we can communicate with each other, who gives a damn?! It might help kids learn a few languages.

English is still the universal world language (besides money).

THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT!

The thread title is a little vague, the poll asks the question; "Would it be good for the U.S. economy to make English the 'official' language of the United States"?

Out of 57,000 votes
94% said yes

2% not sure

It doesn't really curtail anything. But in this country, where freedom is considered a natural right, free expression is only limited in cases where it needs to be. For instance, an obvious choice is cases of public safety, you cannot yell 'fire' in a crowded theatre. Why? Because to do so would cause public panic, and hurt the majority of individuals as they flee for their lives.

Name me a majority advantage to having English as the national language? This country has survived for over 200 years without a national language. Where is the NEED for it?

I just think you're asking the wrong question.

People should be taught more than one language.
