Tony 50-50 for tomorrow's game-- lot of pain-- hard to push off it.

Beno probably out- sprained ankle EARLY in Clippers game.

Tony might as well rest, I don't want him to come back and aggrivate his injury. We need him for the play-offs.

Parker is 50/50 for tomorrow (Lakers). Hard to push off on his leg. Beno is also out, as it stands now.

Tony will miss a maximum of 3 games, maybe just 2. It's not an injury like a groin injury.

Edit* Sorry, duplicate thread.

Inappropriate for Ray Allen to call NBA-- up to GM or office. Not player's place to do this. I think Pop called it "weak."

Great minds think alike-- at exactly the same time. :)

Brent Barry may start and NVE back-up at point guard.

Not much else on this show.

It's been several minutes since the beginning of the show but I also remember Pop saying he was pleased with the Spurs performance vs. the Clippers. He said the team is starting to throw the ball ahead more (not relying on the dribble) and working the inside/out better and improving on their ball movement...their skips (skip passes), reversals, and draw and kicks.

Any indication that we may see more of Brent Barry at point guard even after everyone is healthy?

I doubt Pop would annouce demoting Beno and Nick while they were injured.

I was hoping more of a CIA comment such as: "we liked what we saw out of Brent at the point and we may or may not see more of that in the future."

Wel if Tony and Beno both sit out tomorrow night, he plays PG pretty much by default.

This shouldn't be a surprise because Brent primarily ran the point during hist last couple of years with the Sonices. Before the maturation of Ridnour, coach McMillian felt Barry was by far and away their best playmaker.

No, He wouldn't bench Van X to a 3rd string PG (only if he sucks up the first round of the playoffs)

Get's the nod. :D Mix 'em up. Use the balance to your advantage.

So, we're in a pinch with PGs 1 and 3 out.

If Nick's 'bo isn't too bad, he starts and Brent backs up. Not bad at all.

Thinking in chess terms, it's more about using IMbalances for an advantage.

I don't care who starts, but I figure Pop will go with Nick, 'bo permitting.

Anyway, we STILL have two credible vets to initiate the offense, and Manu to take it over in crunch time. An embarrassment of riches. Compare with Jason Hart and AC two years ago. :lol

How come Pop said TP probably won't be playing tommorow against the Lakers, but Tony said on the Best Damn show that he would be?

barry handles the point pretty well and is much more efficient on passing

If Tony is still hurting at all, he needs to sit.

Makes very little sense to take chances with him at this point. Especially since Dallas handed us another gift last night.

The most important thing at this time, is to get everyone as healthy as possible for the playoffs.

And let's don't forget that the Spurs played pretty damn good without Tony in the lineup Tuesday night.

I think that game showed the depth and resiliance that this team possesses.

Yea that's what I predicted before the season started. It's all about team health. Not to burn it out. I think they (staff) have done best they can to keep everyone fresh.

Where is Solid D with the play by play?

ploto
04-10-2006, 04:49 PM
Missed the beginning, but here's what I got:

They have talked plenty about looking for someone for Bruce Bowen to mentor-- someone who can defend at the 3-spot. Pop was asked if Devin had been on that route and Pop said until he hurt his back. Pop said that Devin's back injury changed his whole game!

Ray Allen has always given the Spurs problems- one of the best shooters in the world.

Break time.

ploto

How much concern is there about Tim's inconsistency not being all health related? Very little because for the minutes and the situations he is in-- he is still rebounding, defending,... teams are fronting and double-teaming etc...

Is the team not playing up to what you want? How? Why?
Inconsistent line-up. Health. Defense is not as intense. Offense getting there.

Do you put effort into changing a player's tendencies-- eg, Manu goes left. Pop says not really- that is what they do well.

Disconnected. End.

At the beginning he said that Manu was in a lot of pain against Dallas but still wanted to finish it out and that he can't really hasn't been able to do anything in practice so he's questionable for tommorow.

Tim is rebounding pretty well, but he's not defending very well/consistently at all.

I'm sure he knows that, Pop knows that.

The question is why?

slayermin

Maria should have asked Pop if the team expected to win the championship.
