My friend Sara backed out on me for the game (like going to class is a good excuse) so my friend Annette joined me tonight. We sat in Section 105, Row C, which is right next to the Spurs tunnel. Tim Duncan was the first to come by on the way to the locker room, Annette took a picture of me with Timmy. Tony Parker came by, I had him sign the pic of him & I together and asked him about their deal that none of the Spurs were going to shave until the playoffs. He said he tried but it was too hard so he gave up. I told him that I saw him on BDSSP, he started laughing so I told him, 'I don't know about that speedo though ...' and he said, 'We'll see if Salley wears it.' :spin
As I was talking to my favorite usher, I stopped to chat with Brian Cook and Ronny Turiaf since they were warming up on the side of the court that I was on. I didn't want to bug them too much though since they were warming up. I did see Cook go to some kids a couple rows up to sign an autograph and them go back to shooting drills.
I asked Bruce Bowen if he'd seen the DVD I gave him at the last game, he said he hadn't yet but Manu Ginobili said that he did and enjoyed my videos (I make Spurs highlight videos and give them to the players). I also had Manu sign the pic of him and I together and asked him about not shaving, he's stuck with it so far. He said he's almost given up 3 times but not quite yet.
I caught Robert Horry as he was coming out of the locker room to warm up, he came out pretty late. He took my hand and said, 'Hey baby, how you doing?' and everything I was going to say went out of my head and I have no idea what my response was. I sat down and Annette said to me, 'Did he just call you baby?' I said 'Yeah, I'm glad I have a witness!'
Game Time
I didn't take any notes, but it was pretty classic for what we've seen from the Lakers this season. They played so well during the first half, only down by 1 point going into half-time and then were outscored 35-18 in the 3rd quarter. They made a push in the 4th, getting it down to 9 points at one point, but it just wasn't enough. Spurs won this one, 96-85.
There were a lot more celebrities there than I realized. Annette was really good at spotting them and knowing who everyone was and I didn't know anyone. We did see Marc Blucas again, currently an actor and used to play college ball with Tim Duncan at Wake Forest. Annette talked with him a little and I took a picture of them together. I didn't even see Eva Longoria arrive until Marcia Cross got there and went to sit with Eva in Section 108. When Eva was leaving, the guys behind me yelled to her, 'Hey Eva, I'll be your gardener!' She just kinda waved at them and laughed. They did show her on the screens during the game at one point and everyone boo'd her.
Cuba Gooding Jr. was sitting in Section 102, just across from me, and Della Reese a few rows up from him in Section 103. Jack Nicholson, of course, was in his seat. I thought it was funny that he showed his game ticket to the usher to go sit down, I'd think they could pretty much trust that the seat is his.
Annette went walking around at half-time and stopped by to chat with the guy from Art of the Game. He said he was actually trying to call me because Horry had an event in Santa Monica last night in which a new piece was presented and Robert signed it. I must have stood there 10 minutes drooling over it ...

It's called 3 Rings, the first picture is against Indiana, then the 76ers and then New Jersey. In the upper right-hand corner of the 3rd one you can see a ghosting image of his game-winner against Sacramento. It was sweet!!! And only $1350 ... (no, I didn't buy it - I'm not that rich!)
We stayed after the game for a while, I chatted with Cook about his golf tournament this summer and about the website (www.briancook.net). Beno Udrih didn't warm-up with the team so I didn't talk to him earlier, I took this opportunity to do so. I had him sign the picture of him and I together and said, 'We're not meeting on a cross-walk this time.' I asked when he'd be back, he said he just twisted his ankle a couple games ago and will only be out a week. He'll be back soon.
So the Lakers didn't win the game, but they'll have another opportunity ... in the playoffs. :drunk
BTW - RashoFan, I really tried to get some Rasho pics for you tonight but wasn't able to. Hope you had a Happy Birthday anyway!
