Suns will get killed on the boards, they have no frontcourt size. They need to shoot lights out to keep this lead.

DarkReign

Jesus....Pheonix just doesnt miss.

They arent dominating anything...they just hit contested jumpers 70% of the time.

Either they cool off, or we're fucked.

Xylus
04-02-2006, 12:48 PM
It's going to be difficult for the Pistons to win if they keep defending the Suns like this. 51-39, Suns are shooting 71% and Diaw to the line. Suns need to keep building on this lead, because Detroit's going to make some kind of comeback. It's inevitable.

Also, I don't think I've ever loved Barbosa more. Notice that Nash is on the court, yet he hasn't touched it since he came off the bench. They keep giving the ball to Barbosa, who keeps causing problems with his blinding speed.

bdubya
04-02-2006, 12:48 PM

Suns can't shoot 70% for 48 minutes, but Pistons can shoot 43+% for 48 minutes, so Suns gonna lose, as their FG% drops off and Pistons shut them down in crunch time.

Yeah, I wish it were on TNT. Their announcers are a little better at least. And Scottie Pippen seems to just be itching to say something negative about the pistons no matter what, after he tried to jinx the pistons' whole season with that 70-win crap.

Pistons +11 on offensive boards as expected. However, the frontcourt of Wallace/Wallace/Prince/McDyess should be having its way with the Suns' interior D. Given the matchups, it's somewhat surprising that Billups, Hamilton and Delk have attempted 21 of the Pistons' 48 FGAs.

And where is the vaunted Piston D?

It's not all jumpshooting, though. Marion is 10 of 11 from the field with 7 of them being layups. Barbosa is 4-5 with 4 layups. Diaw is 5-7 with 3 layups. The Pistons need to protect the paint.

Suns were outscored, 60-39 in the 2nd half. :D

Xylus
04-02-2006, 02:37 PM
The knock against Marion is that he doesn't have the ability to take over a game. He's an efficient finisher, rebounder, free-throw shooter, etc., but he never really imposes his will on the opposing team. An important quality of an MVP is that ability to demoralize the other team through domination.

FreshPrince22
04-02-2006, 02:40 PM
Billups vs. Nash in the 2 head to head games:
Billups: 31 ppg (55.3% shooting), 8 apg
Nash: 15.5 ppg (35.5% shooting), 8.5 apg

But I guess MVP's don't have to play defense. :lol

Historically, the MVP has come from one of the top 2 regular season teams.

Considering that it's SA and Detroit, I doubt the trend continues...

from the article on ESPN.com:

The Pistons spent a lot of time arguing with officials, leading to technicals against Billups, Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace.

It got so testy that Mason was admonished by official Steve Javie for contorting his face after a call was made against the Pistons.

1Parker1

Man, watching the Pistons today....they don't even need a freakin bench to win. Starting 5 + McDyess are more than enough. It doesn't seem as if the minutes will take a toll on them either.

What's their remaining schedule like anyways? So much for us Spurs fans hoping that the Pistons would lose in their "rough" stretch playing Miami, Dallas, and Pheonix. :(

04-02-2006, 05:31 PM
Oh and Chauncey's recent performances against Dirk and Nash definitely helped his MVP standing...I still don't think they'll give it to him. More than likey, I think it will go to Kobe if the Lakers can continue to win like they have been.
