Its going to be a Germany vs Brazil final. Brazil is the only team that has a good shot against germany.

Why was Germany chosen again for the world cup? When was the last time they had it? Other countries haven't had it for longer than Germany. When was it in Poland? or Holland?

Poland?

We do not have even ONE world class stadium. That's the main problem.
I don't know how about Holland but I think Germany was a good choice.
Next WC is in Africa, so it will be differently.

good! the stupid SOB doesn't know shit about substitutions! thats the second time he's done the same shit. In the friendly against England before the WC he substituted Ayala and Riquelme out! our best defender and our playmaker, and then England scores two straight goals to win. HE'S A FUCKING MORON when it comes to substitutions!

Argentina was weak all turnament. I was hoping they will woke up.

What tournament did they broadcast on polish tv?

danyel
06-30-2006, 05:16 PM
My 2 cents on the game. Argentina didnt play well, neither did Germany, neither did any team on this tournament. Actually Argentina played so bad that I think the goal scored in the second half was the first scoring opportunity we had.

Germany won fair and straight, not because of a bad call although there were several mostly against Argentina.

Germans flopped equally or even more than Argentinians.

Hopefully none of this players will be back in 2010: Riquelme, Cruz, Sorin, Crespo, Cambiasso. And our coach, whoever he will be, will have enough balls to play Messi, Agüero and Tevez at the same time, thats our only hope.

The fact that Ukraine made it to the quarter finals shows how bad this WC has been, there is no team playing good no star of the tournament.

MannyIsGod
06-30-2006, 05:21 PM
Germans would argue that if you don't think there is a star of the tournament you haven't been watching very Klosely

MannyIsGod
06-30-2006, 05:34 PM
I'd call you Buddy Ryan but I'm not sure you'd understand the reference.

All the dude has done is score 5 goals, for the 2nd time in as many World Cups. Thats not the first time thats happend or anything....

danyel
06-30-2006, 06:04 PM
We have different quality standards to call someone a star...but I'll agree with you that hes probably the player that has stood out the most in this tournament.

And you're right, I don't understand the Buddy Ryan reference.

MannyIsGod
06-30-2006, 06:14 PM

Buddy Ryan was a coach in our American football leauge. He once traded an incredible reciever and justified it by saying "All he does is catch touchdowns" (American football equivlant to a goal)

Congratulations to Argentina. They have really been a great team in this tournament. I thought Riquelme did not play very good and I was really shocked when he got substituted. I would have never believed that we are able to beat this strong team! I can't believe that we are really in the 1/2 finals, our team is not that strong. I think it has a lot to do with homecourt advantage... But I am really happy of course. :angel

When was the last time they had it? Other countries haven't had it for longer than Germany. When was it in Poland? or Holland?

The last time Germany had the world cup was 1974. Holland/Belgium had the Euro 2000, France World Cup 1998, England Euro 1996,... I just think they won the competiton against the other contenders and had a good concept, thats why they got it!?

I will leave to watch Eng/Por in a coupe of minutes... hope it will be a good game...

P.S: For those who don't know who to root for. Here is a (very little) reason to root for Germany: Frings is a Tim Duncan/ SAS Fan. He attented in a Spurs jersey to the hotel yesterday... :spin

And if Germany wins almost half of them have been won by the home country...

If the country has an elite team and they host, it's almost a given they will win.

With home field being such a huge advantage, the WC should not be hosted so often by countries with elite Soccer Teams...should be played on a more neutral ground(IE a shitty Soccer country)...Asia, Africa and North America...

Brasil is the most overated team in the world cup: no tactic, no defense, no midfield (only emerson) and Ronaldinho (the most overrated player, see, if the team doesn't play for him he is useless). With ghana they commit several mistakes, but ghana is ghana and the attacker didn't score.

This is the victory of the EUROPEAN soccer and tradition.

So in Barca they play for Ronaldinho? that's just stupid. Brasil lost because they had no tactics. They were hoping for a moment of inspiration from one of their stars and that moment never came.

Ok i'm overated but now with betandwin in the quarter i won 1656 € :tu . :elephant

Ok Italy problaly is overrated, however is in the top 4 of the world, and brasil where is?where are Argentina, England, Netherlands, USA? :).

I don't say that brasil is generally overated, but THIS brasilian team, with this coach.

Lucio and Juan aren't good, Cris is better but the problem is that all the brasilian defense can't marking their man.

Yes Ronaldinho play well when he knows he is the undisputed star of the team, and in Barcelona he is... in 2002 The Ronaldinho'star wasn't still assert (i don't know if this is the correct word) and in brasilian team there was an extraordinay Rivaldo who played an Excellent world Cup, the last time he played very well (unfortunately my Milan knows something...)

"They were hoping for a moment of inspiration from one of their stars and that moment never came."

A team who play like you say is a team with no idea, with no group, with no tactic. Overated.

Generally men hate italy but (i knows because i'm spurs fan) italy is the team who play more similarly like spurs

Oh yes, Ronaldinho in Barca knows that is the undisputed star and, however, with organized team he have many difficult: in milan-barcelona and barcelona-milan, he did only one thing: the assist to Giuly, and the difference between him and kakà was that his assist was received by Giuly, and the ricky's assist was received by ambrosini (a player like gattuso, no technic). But, because he is however a great player, can change the game in any time. But in this world cup he made nothing. (an exemple where ronaldinho is overated? In free kicks, how many goal has scored? 2 or 3? )

Wow... even though it is a little late I want to share some impressions with you about the Por/ England game.

I am still amazed by the atmosphere. It was incredible. 30 000 english fans in the stadium. It was like a home game for England. The penalty shootout was about 50 ft away from me and I was right behind the goalkeeper. I was really disappointed by Backham and I still don't know why Rooney got the red card. (They don't show it in the stadium)I thought both teams deserved to win and penalty is always a little luck. (see Ger/Arg)
It could have gone both ways. I am really looking forward to the 1/2 finals.

1 thought about the officiating: Now that I have been really close to the field I have seen how hard it is to officiate such a game. So much dynamic, quickness and it all happens within a 10th of a second. Some things on tv look like there was NOTHING and in the stadium you realise how hard it was AND you sometimes just HEAR contact. So it is always easy to say the ref is bad, but if you are there you see how much difference an angle/ perspective can make.

For the GER/ITA game. I really think we won't beat them. The defense of ITA is probably the best in the whole tournament. So I expect ITA to come out on top.

FRA/ POR is hard to say. Deco will be back and I hope they will make the final. I don't know why. I just don't like the french team a lot, if they would come out as the champs they would definetly deserve it though.

P.S. I am also disappointed by the Brazil team they never played as good as they are capable of.

Let's just hope the game was on too early to be widely viewed...and let's also hope everyone that did see it forgets that sorry moment as soon as possible. I'm sorry for bringing it up...but I had to know.

Italy - Germany 2-0

I like Italy football very much so I hope that they will win. I said on the start of WC that BRA and ITA are going to be in the finals. Brazil will not be in the final so I hope that at least Italy will be. I think it will be very tought game, with not a lot of chanches. But we all know that when Italy haves a chance they use it and score a goal. Because of good defense of Italy Germans will not be able to score a goal from inside 16 meters, so they will shot from outside and Buffon will save everything. With Materazzi and Nesta in defense they will be hard to win.

Well, if you have 40 000 ppl cheering for you it helps you a lot energy- wise. It is also an advantage that the players know the stadiums and are used to play there. South Korea was in the 1/2 finals in 2002 (also at home)...

I really think that Italy has the better team. They want to proove somthing after the scandal in the italian league and that may fire them up even more. Our team lost to them in march 1:4! In soccer the ref got more power changing the score. Cause you've got scores in single digits :) and one mistake can decide the game. One game which decide about everything.
In soccer a ref is like another player who can make mistakes. He is not as close as basketball ref plus he is alone (not counting the side refs). He have no 3 angels like the basketball refs.

That was the best game in this turnament so far (still 3 games to go).

THAT WAS A "THRILLER IN DORTMUDNILLA" a hevywight fight between ItALI and JOErmany, but this time they showed up in the fifteenth round and ItALI knocked JOErmany out. Devastating loss to the home team.

I had that feeling that Italy will win (damn - I trusted my brain not heart on vbookie).

Great tactic by Italy, and fantastic defense. Just wanted to watch that game.

Top5
1. Germany - Italy
2. Portugal - Holland
3. Australia - Croatia
4.
5. Argentina- Ivory

Fuck the Italians. they are the primmadonnas of world futbol. Lucky as shit, always on the refs good side and flop more than Ginobili. (they do have mad skills though and was happy they beat the boring germans)

Even if France passes, they have 6 players w/yellow cards which means at least 2 or their starters will be suspended come finals. I will root first for Portugal, then if necessary, for France.

It's football here, not the Oscars!

I want Zizou to finish them off.

The French midfield and Barthez look sloppy to begin the match. Zizou's already made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes.

They tried it again to fool the ref over and over and over again.
Unbelievable!

Especially Ronaldo who has so much talent.
He doesn't need this crap!
But he is being teached by Figo, so this is what you get.....

Awesome for Zizou!

If by trying you mean throwing himself down in the penalty box, then yes he was most active player in Portugal squad.

We can blame him for the first one although - damn that ball is starnge.

The third - ohh come on. And he saved that lob :)
All in all the Portugal couldn't get through the Germans defense. One more time - Germans defense! One more time - Germans defense!!!

BIG FINAL TODAY AND I DO NOT CARE WHO WILL WIN THIS STUFF. Hopefully this is gonna be a great game with a lot of offense. Cause those two squads are playing fenomenal tacticly and defensivly.
Indywidual plyers can decide. Zidane, Pirlo.
