All these pictures are from Nagoya & Toyota-chi (toyota city).
Spursy was there from 3/3 - 3/31.
I'll put a little explanation before each one.

Toyota-chi Police Station. Yes, that is a cartoon owl.
Never saw a single policeman the entire trip. Only heard 3 sirens and they were all from ambulances. Leads one to belive that the cartoon owl IS the police force.

This guy just opened his hot dog stand last month. It's the only one in Toyota-chi & they are the best hot dogs in the entire world. Every hotdog vender in NY & Chicago should kiss this guys ass.

Here is a close up of his sign. The Japanese have no idea what it implies. They don't understand why the americans where laughing so hard they choked.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/wryknowE/PICT0200.jpg

These kids where out for the day by themselves. No parents. Emo saw them on the subway too. Not a strange sight in Japan. Little 5, 6, 7 or 8 yr olds wandering around town.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/wryknowE/PICT0028.jpg

This is the hotel room. It is large and luxurious, and for 9,500 yen a night it better be! He is standing in the door to take this pic and see the long side of the bed?? The other long side is pressedup against the wall. It is smaller than a standard twin.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/wryknowE/PICT0045.jpg

Yes.This is the toilet. Yes you take a crap into it, it's not just for peeing.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/wryknowE/PICT0096.jpg

Rent a Car. You put coins into the machine and the car unlocks and then you drive away with it. I'm not kidding. Coin opperated rent a car. no paperwork, no insurance.....Also it is 3 1/2 feet wide and about 5 feet long.

The 100 Yen store. (= to $1)
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/wryknowE/PICT0030.jpg

Hmmm... Is it a candy shop? A toy store? NO! It's the Porn Store.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/wryknowE/PICT0052.jpg

It's a Ferris Wheel ontop of a restaurant. You can ride in it & eat dinner @ the same time. Don;t ask me why you would want to do that, but apparently thereis a waiting list.

This just looks cool. 2 guys painted it.

Should have asked for a demonstration on the toilet. Do you just squat above it and hope for the best.

HAHHAA.. brings back memories of my trip to Japan. Oh, man, they really don't 'get' somethings that make Americans laugh. I recorded a godo hour of television, mostly commercials because I found them outright hilarious. Of course, I ended up paying like the USD equivalent of $5 for the tape, so I am not sure who really got the last laugh.

My favorite was the Pajero- its a car, I forget who made it. I will dig up my pics when I get home and look. All the Mexicans prolly know what a pajero is, so I don't need to tell you.

The 100 yen store rocks! I got more useless junk there than at the dollar stores here in the States.

Obi- did he ever see one of those parking garages where the car actually gets lifted on an elevator and placed in a high-rise parking stall? It's the freakiest thing. You get a ticket, and when you are ready to go, you scan the ticket and the claw grabs your car and brings it back down the elevator for you.

Some amazing stuff. Now I am having nostalgia and want to go back.

the police are probably all busy working to find out how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop.

On CSI they said the octo's can kill you if you don't swallow it right..

I'll pass...

Nice pics.

Edit add: Wow lol that toilet. No wonder they said toilets are a big thing in Japan. Hey how much in US is 9500 yen?

I guess I ain't doing too bad with 1 acre of property and a 3000 gallon koi pond. Compared to how cramped things are in Japan. :madrun

There are Western toilets all over the place in Japan, in most touristy places and hotels. There was only one place I went that didn't have a Western toilet, so I just waited till we went back to the hotel.

to figure you just move the deciaml point two spots to the left.
so it;s about $95 a night after the Toyota discount.

On the episode of CSI they showed a certain kind of octopus. you were supposed to wrap the tentacles around the chopsticks in a certain way before you put it in your mouth and then swallow the octopus. If you didn't wrap it correctly the the tentacles would be free to attach themselves to the back of your throat when you try to swallow and suffocate you. The tentacles have little suction cups thingies on them. The visual was very disturbing.

That's really cool. I lived in Japan until I was 5, lots of pics of me as a little blonde toddler running around in kimonos. Did you pick up any of the language?

Thre is english all over the place in the larger cities. Also atleast 70% of the 30 and younger population speak english. But alot of people will not speak english unless they can speak it perfectly. Also those who don;t speak it can mostly understand it if it is written so they will have you write down whatever you need & then go get it for you.

If you ask some stray person for directions they will stop whatever it is they are doing and bring you to where you need to go. Even if it means closing thier shop.

Thanks for sharing.

And I swear I saw a car like that pulling out of the Costco parking lot the other week. It was tiny and only 2 people fit in it.
