Spurs Roster

Returning from last season:

Tim Duncan
Tony Parker
Manu Ginobili
Rasho Nesterovic
Bruce Bowen
Malik Rose
Robert Horry
Devin Brown
Sean Marks

Newcomers (guaranteed):

Brent Barry
Tony Massenburg
Beno Udrih

Partially guaranteed contracts:

Romain Sato
James Thomas
Linton Johnson III
Valter Monteiro (if his contract overseas is over)

Other Possibilities:

Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje
Marque Perry

_____________

So who will make the cut? If the Spurs carry a full roster plus 3 IR players, that means 15 of the above 18 will be here.

Active Roster:

Tim Duncan
Tony Parker
Manu Ginobili
Rasho Nesterovic
Bruce Bowen
Malik Rose
Robert Horry
Devin Brown
Sean Marks (Over Massenburg, just because Pop stated that his role would increase)
Brent Barry
Beno Udrih
Linton Johnson III (He's NBA worthy, and he plays defense)

IR:

Tony Massenburg
Romain Sato

The Spurs could choose to carry just the fourteen players listed above. If they choose another, I would think it would be either Thomas because of his partially guaranteed contract or Ruben because of his size. They could, of course, keep that spot open in hopes of signing a veteran point guard or big man at some point during the season.

I agree with Brodels, except that I would switch Marks and Massenburg.

I haven't heard a peep about Sato. I'll find out Monday at Media Day.

I have no fuckin' clue who will actually make it, but I'm pulling for Marque Perry. He kicked some ass at the RMR.

You are right, he was great at the Revue after a subpar SPL. He's a great guy, good defender, strong, and has a money mid-range jump shot. If the Spurs have doubts about Beno's health, they'll probably keep Perry.

hey Kori
who do u think will make the bench out of Marks and Massenburg and who's going to be wearing street clothes to the games ?
Im praying Marks makes the bench, he deserves a shot.

By how I've heard Brett Brown, Danny Ferry, PJ and Pop talk about him this summer, I can't imagine that Marks isn't going to get his chance.

All of them have said on various occasions that it was important to retain him and that he is going to play a bigger role. So I'm guessing that Marks will get a shot and Massenburg would start out on IR.

Agree with Brodels....

Although I think they carry Thomas in the 15th slot.

Hoopshype has Sato and Thomas both listed as on the books for $385,277. No way I see th Spurs paying half a season's salary and not keeping them around, so unless one of the two pees in the watercooler in training camp I see them both making the squad.

Just a feeling, but if Massenberg doesn't have a guaranteed contract, I think the signing of James Thomas means he's outa here. I think all Thomas has to do is show he can bang for a few minutes (all they expected out of Massenberg) or fill in if someone gets hurt.

Thomas would be a lot cheaper to keep than Massenberg and the Spurs are usually pretty good at filling the end of the bench with cheap contracts.
