do you want him to stick around and be a assistant coach?

Yes, always liked the guy, and in my opinion he knows the game very well.

He can do whatever, so long as he doesn't play here. Dude is literally at the end of his career and his productivity has diminished considerably.

NVE sort of looks like a retiree out there now. In his road uni, he looks like he's wearing knee high black "gold toes" and wingtips.

I want him back next year.

I see him as a Steve Kerr type of insurance during the playoffs. A couple of big shots, when the Spurs offense is stagnant. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think the reason for TP's success, really just some of it, is NVE himself. It's like the veteren leadership at the 1 spot has helped TP so much..

supposedly this guy behind the scenes has been mentoring Beno and helps add another personality to the team.

he's a good veteran backup for Tony as well.

...We could do without his bricks though.

That's all well and good - but this dude looks like an old guy that just walked out of the stands and onto the court trying to play NBA ball.

If anyone is thinking he's gonna be a difference-maker in the playoffs - think again!

He's gassed. He's injured and he's in pain. His body is simply breaking down. Hell, he was broke down last year when he was in Portland. If fact, he shut himself down the final 1/3 of the season and indicated he was going to retire. Why he tried to defy his body and play another season is a mystery to me.

He's done.

Come on, now.

NVE has been known his entire career as a shooter. This elbow shit throws that off. The only reason he's playing is because Udrih is out. He played in garbage minutes today and played Bibby well, he picked him up at half court and fought through screens not letting him get open looks. I think he hit a 3 or two as well, with a fucked up arm.

Hopefully Udrih gets back, NVE gets some rest...and come playoff time he hits a few big threes. He's a hell of a player, he can be the difference maker that puts us over the top. I don't see why you guys love to ride him. Ride Duncan, his fucked up foot is what's holding the team back. He's making fucking kenny thomas look like an all star.

Your points about Duncan are both fair and accurate - for this game anyway. However, Duncan is a hub of this team. I'll sooner give Tiim a pass for poor play than NVE, who has been only "shell of his former self" the past two seasons.

Come off it already. No one is riding him unfairly. He WAS a good PG in this league. He WAS a feared and deadly shooter in this league.

Nobody cares about what he once was. What matters is what he is NOW. His best days are WAY behind him. He's at a point in his career where his minuses clearly outweigh his pluses. His turnovers, missed shots and poor defense will continue to hurt this team if Pop is forced to use him for big stretches during the playoffs.

We all understand the Spurs are in dire straits right now with Beno out and Tony banged up. However, there's no way NVE is going to be a factor come playoff time. His body simply won't allow it.

I'm saying the dude shouldn't have tried to play this season. In fact, I was forced to watch the ESPN telecast tonight. The broadcasters claimed they spoke with NVE and he admitted that he's having a tough time with the injury and feels he's gonna have to retire when it's all over.

Like I said earlier. He's done.

One thing about the fact that this is his last playoffs probably ever....The dude can pump as much hydrocortisone into his elbow as he wants....He might be able to stroke a few threes out there yet.

No he didn't. He makes the minimum.

Fabricio and Fin took the MLE.

Exactly, Duncan is a focal point.

For a third string point guard we use sparingly and isn't healthy...everybody sure rides the hell out of NVE. It's like he's an easy target for pointless BS. He's not healthy, if he has time to rest his elbow he can still hit big shots. Simple.
