I don't understand this getting pissed off after every loss crap. These are the best days for Spurs fans, and in 5 years everyone here is going to really miss them. Everyone should enjoy this time, because it's not coming back for a long time once it's over. There's not another Tim Duncan walking through the door once this one leaves.

You and I know that, as do many other Spurs fans I'm sure. But people tend to overreact after a loss like last night's. I mean even I was so pissed that I even said "well done that Parker broke his head, maybe that'll fix them up". I didn't mean it at all of course but I was just mad. Of course those are just frustration feelings about the moment, but I never post those... I know how lucky Spurs fans are to have this team, and to have Tim Duncan.
but yeah it's understandable to be upset, but not to jump off the bandwagon

As I posted in another thread, we lost to the Kings in 2002 104-80 at the then-SBC Center and look what the team did in the postseason. I am over last night. Bring on the postseason!! :)

To tell you the truth, I'm a lot more worried about Timmy's 'flu-like symptoms,' which have been hanging on a lot longer than I'm comfortable with.
Other than that, this team is terrific - most of the time - and we can't expect them to never have an 'off' night. Back-to-backs are hell - and I'm not making excuses for them. But thank God we don't have any during the playoffs.
The Spurs will be rested and pissed tomorrow night. If I'm Dallas, I'd be very, very worried.

I wasn't too mad last night and I'm definitely not mad today.
It wasn't a fun game to watch, but sometimes teams get beat down.
I had some concerns about the game though.
Duncan was complaining to the refs A LOT. To the point where he just didn't run back on defense. That, to me, isn't a good thing, no matter if the refs sucks or not.
The other was Tony being banged around. Tony has been relatively healthy throughout the season until the last week or so. He has the bruise leg/ankle and now he got hit again on the leg, banged his nose, got cut on the head, etc. It's concerning.
Health will be vital in the playoffs.

I noticed that about Tim, too, and wondered what that was about. I love Duncan, but he really needs to get over himself and get back to playing bb.
Tony being banged around like that is scary, and even though we expect it of Manu, all 3 of those guys have to be ready in the playoffs. Our bench is terrific, but they can't win it if TT&M are all in the hospital!

Agree Kori:
What concerned me with the game is that Duncan allowed his performance to be affected by the "non-calls".
This is where POPS need to be a coach and not a baby-sitter to these guys by DEMANDING better from them instead of coddling them!
From my limited point of view, it appears that POPS give Duncan way too much freedom instead of getting in his face and telling him what he needs to hear!

It's never about one loss, it's about a number of losses and how they were lost, not only against lottery teams, but against Lakers, Nuggets, Mavs, Pistons.
But this year, any argument is obscured by Tim's PF. It seems like he's moving well on offense, and rebounding, esp the last 2 or 3 weeks, but his defense is like his PF is killing him.

I stopped getting mad about regular season losses a long time ago. It could be due to the fact that I no longer am able to watch 95% of the games, or it could be because I've realized the playoffs are all that really matters. Its pretty rare that I see a game that angers me now with the Spurs, of course come May, any loss will probably make me irate.

Not just Duncan either. 3 of the top 10 players in franchise history are on this team, not to mention the best coach and best GM they've ever had, and people just don't appreciate it enough. It's one thing if the country doesn't adore them, but what more do they have to do to get their own fans to give them a little leeway?

The problem is the only time I see you 'say anything' on this site is after the Spurs lose you come on saying "aww, everyone sing kumbaya, it's okay the Spurs lost, everyone complaining are mean people, you guys should shut up.'
If you want to say something, contribute to the forum in the way of conversation other than crying about people getting pissed off about the Spurs playing like ass.
And while I'm at it, I really don't have much respect for someone who shows up wearing a friggin' Bluejays cap on a Spurs site. WTF is that?

I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread.
I didn't see anything in the posts from last night other than a concern for the occasional problem of mentally and physically soft play. Are zocool and others saying that it's improper for fans to notice and discuss issues that concern them about the way the team plays?
For myself, I think there's a monumental difference between discussing specific things that have been recurrent problems in the handful of games the Spurs have lost this season and blowing up after every loss and contending that players be traded or that coaches be fired. Rational discussion of existing problems is not inconsistent with being a fan and it's not whining about a wonderful basketball team -- it's an exercise in analyzing the game and trying to understand what makes teams successful.
Last night I posted a rhetorical question about whether a team that wins 63-65 games can ever be thought of an underachieving. I don't think so, but I also don't think that a gaudy record is indicative of a team that is without a few problems.
I completely appreciate Baseline's point; these are the high times of Spurs basketball and they won't be here forever. But I don't think it's inherently inconsistent to appreciate that fact while at the same time thinking about the concerns that become evident in losses.

I don't think liking the jays makes me any less of a spurs fan. definitely! its too late in the season for the spurs not to be absolutely motivated and they know how shitty a #4 seed would be in the playoffs. and everyone remember that its the DIVISION record, not conference record that determines the tie break as ESPN and nba.com had it wrong for most of the year though they recently corrected it. so this game on friday is even bigger than anticipated!

I just think after a certain point, it's useless to complain about the same old things. After 70+ games, and 2 years of almost the same the same team (everyone but Fin, really), we all pretty much know what their strengths and weaknesses are. Ad nauseaum.
What you have to understand is, every single time they lose a game, it'll be because of something. It'll always be fatigue, or rebounding, or FT shooting, or injuries, or a combination of things.
This team is simply too talented to ever be simply beaten. If they always played an A game, nobody in the world would ever beat them, including the Pistons. Their B+ game is enough to beat like 90% of the NBA. To lose to a home game against a team like the Kings takes pretty much a D+ effort.
Their guys tried a lot harder than our guys. Pretty simple. And you can understand our guys not being too into it since our seed is almost locked up, and the Pistons have HCA locked up. Pop isn't going to crazy trying to win these games, and if he won't go crazy worrying about them, the players won't either.
In the playoffs, I don't think our effort or our desire will be an issue, and I don't see us being outexecuted 4 out of 7 games. Sorry. The only team that can hang in the same gym with us when we're motivated to play are the Pistons.

Frankly, I was more upset following the Seattle loss. The Spurs were never in this game after the 1st quarter. The teams failure to execute offensively on one end and shut down both Bibby and Artest on the other end were a concern. Duncan's health is yet another concern.

Tpark - So you're saying you're p-whipped and Kori's not even your wife? That your word isn't good for anything, because Kori said she wanted you to stay? Lots of people wanted you to honor your word and go away for a year, what about them?

Agree 100% with Aggie on this entire thread. I also do not respect zocool for many reasons, being mostly his calling out on every Spurs fan that complains about a loss (are we suposed to be happy?), his bluejays freaking cap and the fact that he changed it for that Chapulin Colorado shit just made it worse. Kid, to me you are a tool. (Not that you should care about it, just pointing it out)

The point is that there are some posters that complain about every single loss, start numerous threads about it and yell at the top of their lungs that the sky is falling, every time the SPurs lose a game. And it truly gets old.
The fact is the Spurs are going to lose games, they are going to get blown out, they are not going to go 82-0 anytime soon (not even 68-14, which is a Goddamn difficult thing to do). But Christ, even with TD at 70% and Manu missing 14 games and not playing with the intensity he played last year, we are 58-17, on track for a 62-63 season wins. That's fucking awesome. 90% of the NBA fans would give anything to be in our position.
By the way, I respect AHF. He is one of my favorite posters.
