Oberto is superman. The Mavs just had to lower the height of their building.

Calm down. I hope you realize that he also got burned Nazr-like for two huge dunks in the lane.

He also got blocked on a weak layup attempt like Nesterovic.

Ever heard of an upfake Fabby?

Good rebounding, keep it up, and you might be halfway decent VS teams like Detroit.

Oberto had a good stretch in the first half, but he later showed why he rides the pine. Sorry, no need to free Oberto at this point.

I think we need him to defend Dirk. He can't cover guys in the post, but Dirk doesn't play in the post.

Oberto played him perfect on this one possession. Great footwork, didn't fall for any of Dirk's million pump fakes like TD and Bowen constantly do, and contested the shot with good timing.

He is still the best offensive rebounder we have

You want Dirk to go for 55?

You saw, what, one play where Oberto stopped Dirk? There is no way Oberto can stay with Dirk on the perimeter. He would foul out in about five minutes.

Oberto had a good stretch in the first half, but he later showed why he rides the pine. Sorry, no need to free Oberto at this point.Great reasoning!!! If not doing everything right in a game means you shouldn't play, then judging by tonight's game Tim, Tony, Nazr, Rasho, etc., should ride the pine. Obviously not the smartest line of thinking.

Oberto showed that he can contribute. He sure can rebound, and he when he can't grab them himself he deflects the ball so that a teammate can. He has very good positioning, he is pretty mobile, setting good screens and staying with players -such when he faced Dirk later in the 4th-, and plays within the team's scheme.

Now, he's not a good athlete, that's hardly news. He's not a good jumpshooter. Hardly news either. Maybe what you can criticize the most was his shaky passing for the night. It usually isn't, but today it was. Big fuck!ng deal. Overall there's no room to pick on him specifically, at least not if one watched the game.

In a night where the team played like crap, Oberto did OK. But if someone wishes to find fault somewhere instead on focusing on the real issues... then go for it. Oberto is your guy. Have fun.

Oberto had a good first half. He did a great job tipping out rebounds. But Pop left him in too long in the second half.

I would have liked to see more Rasho in the second half, since the problems were mostly on the defensive end.

With the Spurs centers, you have continually adjust who's out there based on need. I'm not sure that's what happens.

If not for the Spurs rebounding, in which Oberto played a BIG part, this game would have been over WAY sooner. So you could make your case that Horry in would have meant an earlier demise rather than salvation.

Both Tim (13 points in 5/15 shooting, key turnover, torched by Dirk) and Tony (10 points in 5/15 shooting, 5 TO) played a horrid game. Big players are the ones supposed to step up in big games. Oberto shouldn't be a target.

Oberto is not the target.

But he is not the answer either.

Give it up.

Me, too. I thought for sure when Tim came out late in the third quarter that Pop would put in Rasho. Any chance people finally believe me about how much worse the defense is without him?? Tim just is not able to cover for Nazr like he did last year. Truth be told- Rasho was covering some for Tim this season.

No surpise that the only players with positive +/- stats for tonight-- NVE, Finley, Rasho, and Barry.
