Manu Ginobili's latest contusions aren't expected to keep him out of the lineup long.

Ginobili and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich both expect him to play Tuesday against Seattle. Ginobili missed Sunday's game after bruising his left calf and shin in Friday's loss to Dallas.

"I improved a lot the last 24 hours, so I should be ready," Ginobili said.

Ginobili was initially injured when he took a charge from Mavericks guard Jerry Stackhouse in the fourth quarter. He thinks he might have been inadvertently kicked again while trying to draw a foul from Erick Dampier.

Ginobili continued to play in the game, but had trouble pushing off with his left leg. He didn't practice Saturday, instead receiving treatment the past two days.

Horry returns: Spurs' forward Robert Horry returned to the lineup for Sunday's game after missing Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks following the death of his father-in-law, but said he will miss Tuesday's game at the AT&T Center against the Seattle SuperSonics.

"It's been rough," the veteran forward said, "and I've got to turn around and miss the next game, too. I hate that it happened, but you've got to do it. And one thing that's good is we're deep. Hopefully, I won't be missed, because we've got to take care of this next game."

Horry made an impact in the Spurs' 83-81 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, scoring 10 points and grabbing five rebounds in 21 minutes.

Small-ball makes an impact: The Spurs long have been accustomed to hearing opponents marvel about their rugged defense and imposing front line. But after Sunday's game, Memphis forward Shane Battier said he was just as impressed with how well the Spurs play when they go small.

For much of the fourth quarter, the Spurs surrounded Tim Duncan with guards Tony Parker, Nick Van Exel, Brent Barry and Michael Finley. With that lineup on the floor, the Spurs outscored the Grizzlies 15-5.

"When they put four small guys out there, they put four 3-point shooters out there," Battier said. "And when they roll Duncan down the lane, you have to make a decision. Are you going to rotate to Duncan, or are you going to stay home with the shooters? They're one of the few teams in the league that can do that with effectiveness, and they do it well."

Iron man: With Kevin Garnett missing Sunday's game against Atlanta because of tendinitis in his right knee, Bruce Bowen is the NBA's active leader for consecutive games started.

Bowen started his 349th game in a row Sunday. Garnett's streak had stood at 351 games.

Barry's art exhibit: Brent Barry and his wife, Erin, helped host a special exhibit of photographs of local foster children Saturday night at the San Antonio Museum of Art. The exhibit, which is designed to raise awareness about adoption opportunities, will be shown to the public at different venues around the city.

Beard watch: Tim Duncan and Sean Marks have bowed out of the team's beard contest.

Marks shaved his before attending the photo exhibit Saturday.

"Going two weeks without kissing my wife and children also had become a problem," Marks said.

Spurs players and staff began a contest last month to see who could allow their facial to grow until the final day of the regular season. Ginobili, Barry and Horry are among the remaining contestants.

I don't know about y'all, but after all the playoff teams we've seen lately, I'm looking forward to beating the hell out of some sorry team, and the Sonics would do just fine. I wanna see our scrubs playing in the 4th, with Beno and Rasho and Fab getting some run...

Save the drama for april 22...

I am glad Gino will be back. I really missed having him in the game on Sunday.

:lol Silly boys.

Finley should stick with the contest. He looks nice with a beard.

When he keeps it trimmed, Beno looks nice with a little facial hair too.

If Horry wasn't going to be out Tuesday I would agree. No Manu and no Horry = a pretty short bench since someone else would have to start in Manu's place.

And besides, SA owes Seattle a butt-kicking.
