the mavs should dream on with their finals hopes, just because you have one good season of Defense doesn't mean you're automatically in, it just means you are getting better in that department which still has a lot of work to do.... DO NOT compare yourself to the champs when you are still chumps with no rings

Darrin

The Palace.

55-21 (.720) in the playoffs since 1989 in 30 playoff series. The Pistons have lost two of the sixteen homecourt series at the Palace (2002 Celtics, 2003 Nets).

In the Finals, the Pistons are 8-2 (.800) at the Palace. The losses are by a combined 2 points and both were in overtime (105-106 vs. Portland in 1990, 95-96 vs. San Antonio in 2005).

The Pistons have had 3 Game sevens in the Palace since its opening in the beginning of the 1988-89 season.

May 30, 1990: Pistons 97, Bulls 83 - infamous Pippen "migraine" game.
May 4, 2003: Pistons 108, Magic 93 - T-Mac held to 21 points.
May 20, 2004: Pistons 90, Nets 69 - Kidd held scoreless for first time in postseason.

That's an average of 98.3 vs. 81.6 or a +16.7 margin of victory.

The Pistons magic number of clinching homecourt throughout is down to two games. It guarantees nothing; only the end of the game does that. The Spurs have won in the Finals against the Pistons in the Palace. But they have 1 in 4 chances of winning that series when looking at the numbers.

When making arguments against the Spurs, I start with the motivation of losing last season, I talk of the Pistons experience in pressure situations, and I finish with the deck being stacked in the Pistons favor because of homecourt, especially with 27 road victories and counting.

Yeah, he really showed that shrinkage tonight getting the last shot of the game to win by two with 0.7 seconds left on the clock...but I guess you can hope that happens because your team's going to need it...unless Ginobili decides to take him out with an injury like he did in '03 with his flailing.

I wasn't comparing Ginobili to Dirk but if you want to then alright:

* 5-time NBA All-Star: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006
* 5-time All-NBA:

* First Team: 2005
* Second Team: 2002, 2003
* Third Team: 2001, 2004

* NBA All-Star Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout Champion: 2006

* Named MVP and was the leading scorer of the 2002 Basketball World Championships in Indianapolis.
* Named MVP and was the leading scorer of the 2005 European Championship, winning the silver medal with the German national team.
* Named European Basketball Player of the Year in 2005.

It's funny how you put 2006 Finalists runner-up...so you are already conceding that you won't wint he championship this year? Anyway, enough tit-for-tat for tonight, you guys should be focusing more on red hot Orlando and the Sonics who are both on some nice win streaks against some good teams.

Webber, huh? Look at where Dirk is then and now. Now look at where Webber is, he has always been way overrated. What goes around does not come around moron, Ginobili needs to stop flopping about like a marionette, the idiot has even injured himself with all his flopping. Besides, how are we responsible for Webber's injuries...re, the whole "what goes around, comes around" crap?

Juwan Howard's foul on Derek Anderson in '01 was way dirtier than Manu being knocked down into Dirk.

And what about all the crap Najera pulled when he was in Dallas? If Malik didn't have such a hard head, he might have been knocked out of that series in '03 when Najera kneed him.

Tlong you must be concerned about if how long can your team survive in this league than worry if the Spurs can repeat.

here this ...
There have been rumors of a Michael Jordan-Trail Blazers connection with Nike headquartered in Oregon.

But even Nike executives now see the Trail Blazers as a bad deal. There is now considerable doubt the franchise could command $300 million, which could lead owner Paul Allen to declare bankruptcy. If there were a bankruptcy, the NBA would take over the team as baseball did with the Montreal Expos and find a buyer.
-- Chicago Tribune

whoa, sounds like your team's future is in trouble. but you are welcome here if you decide to change teams :lol

Bling, did you read the rest of my post? I was saying the only way the Spurs wouldn't win the championship would be if Tim Duncan played poorly, which I also said HE WOULDN'T.

How that deserved an eyeroll, I'll never understand.

why is there a picture of lips on your avatar?

Dont worry. By playoff time, Dirk will be back to his normal post season modus operandi and will start to experience his annual sac shrinkage.

This couldn't be anymore innacurate. Dirk's post season numbers are much better than his regular season's. Look it up for yourself on NBA.com. He has no history of shrinking away in the playoffs, but quite the opposite.

I am really worried about not having home court against Detroit and/or Dallas, esp. Detroit. I just don't see us winning one in Detroit and three in a row here. I just don't know if we can win two in Detroit. Am I wrong???

No, he's been a sensation around here since replacing Ken Calvert (Joe DUUUUMARSS!!!) in 2001-02.

If it helps, I don't like the whine of the Spurs announcer either. And I certainly could stand the "AND NOW YOUR CHICAGO BULLS!" guy with the dimmed lights and the annoying music, which seemed to be played more often than Mason ever has been.

And the Mason impersonators (Miami, Indiana especially) get on my nerves.
