Tied after three. Some dude named Francisco Garcia is doing a Bad Beno on the Kings. This despite Diaw having 5 fouls, Nash and Marion 4.

it's funny that everytime someone starts a "team 'a' is killing team 'b'" thread team 'b' makes a dramatic come back within 10 minutes of the thread being posted. it's just weird.

Suns take their first lead ... in an awful long while. 88-86 10:22 left.

Marion picks up his 5th foul with 9:27 left, replaced by Thomas. 92-91 after two FTs.

4:43 - Flagrant Foul Type 1 Ron Artest (James Jones draws the foul)

105-100 Suns, timeout Sacto, FT and possession still to come.

Marion (5 PF) in for Jones.

Barbosa hits both technicals, Marion dunks, 109-100 Suns, ballgame ...

Suns 123 Sacto 110

To paraphrase the late, great Howard Cosell: "A collapse of epic proportion as the Kings were outscored 72-42 in the second half."

when you're the #1 seed it should be the other teams fans that don't wanna play you not the other way around. I know some 76ers fans that would rather not make the playoffs then have to face the pistons in the first round, now that's real fear. I for one don't care who we play because if the spurs can't get past the kings they don't deserve the championship plain and simple.

I hope we play the Kings in round 1. Every year that we have won the championship we have had a fairly formidable first round opponent

99 = Minnesota who were one of 2 teams that took us to a loss in the playoffs (sigh)

2003 = Phoenix, this guys gave us a handful of problems with a then solid Marbury who would outmuscle parker day in and day out. took a 4th quarter come from behind victory in game 6 to close them out

2005= Denver, hottest team in the league since the AS Break. I was VERY impressed with us taking 4 straight from them after dropping game one in typical spurs fashion.

the time we did have an easy round 1 opponent (memphis) who wasn't so much easy but wasn't exactly as close as people thought the series would be, we got our asses handed to us in the second round, choking miserably.
so BRING ON THE KINGS

1Parker1, I can not control my powers just yet, it just comes to me sometimes. It comes to me in the absence of malice or forethought, so I can not just indescriminently throw it around just for my own gain. It does seem rather odd that I can jinx a team with a simple post in FSP, but there are things that happen that we just do not understand. Shooting is fickle and not somthing that should be depended upon game after game in hopes of advancing. Without Amare and Thomas, the Suns don't get many inside points, which means their entire offense is based around the three (which is why they take almost 30 attempts a game), then the mid-range game.

The reason they have looked so inconsistant of late is their reliance on the shot for a win. If they aren't hitting, they may as well be a lottory team cause they aren't going to force missed shots, mostly hope and pray some don't go in, but even then, they'll struggle to get defensive rebounds.

Sacramento thought they had the game wrapped up early yesterday, stopped playing hard, which allowed the Suns to get a few easy baskets and their confidense back. Once a few perimeter jumpers went in, things snowballed until Sacramento ran out of options.

If they meet in the playoffs, this game will go a long way in determining the series. Maybe because they've seen how quickly things change when it didn't matter, they'll be more quick to play as hard as they can from start to finish?

We won't know until the series starts. Suns can win, but it will be a battle from game to game, maybe quarter to quarter.

i agree for the most part, but i don't think sacramento is consistent enough offensively to keep up with the suns of they have to... or have the personnel to defend the suns the same way the spurs do on a consistent basis. i just don't think sacramento matches up as well with phoenix as the spurs do. sac can score, but i don't think they wanna run and gun for 48 minutes in a 7 game series. if they can slow the game down enough they can win, but i don't think they have the horses to do it on a consistent basis.

Funny, cause you'd think if anyone would appreciate that point it'd be Spurs fans. But we don't always.

While the best offense performing at its peak will best good defense, over seven games good defense is always more reliable.

JamStone

Spurs fans don't necessarily have to be concerned at all about playing Sacramento in the first round, or for that matter the Lakers either. If the Spurs just drop to the fourth seed, they will play the Grizzlies or Clippers.

But the D has not been up to Spurs' standards the past month. The last 2 games, the D has gotten better, but the Spurs have given up a higher percentage of shots made the last half of the season, compared to previous years. I hope they are coming around now.

Absolutely.

About last night, though. Was I the only one who thought the Spurs defense wasn't really all that impressive, despite the low Seattle FG%? Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but Seattle seemed to still get into the lane at lot. They just shot horribly.

I agree that they got into the lane but I think the spurs were rotating much better and their defense in general was sharper. After the spurs blocked the first 6 or 7 attempts in the lane the the supersonics started to look elswhere more often.

I also noticed the spurs were much more active in the passing lane than they have been all year. That generated some good transition baskets.

As TD goes, the interior D goes. TD is healthy, therefore the D will be much better.
