They had an NBA category on NBA Arenas and the $2000 clue was "AT&T" (Formerly SBC) Center. None of them got it. :pctoss

What was the response supposed to be? The team?

Yes, which team NBA plays there.

AT&T should be thrilled with that investment.

That is sort of a hard question if you are not a real spurs fan. I still sometimes mix up the name and I know better.

And I couldn't tell you all the names of which teams play in which arena.

My favorite was that time with the Mormon dude who set the all-time record. The answer was "the garden tool is also a term for a person of questionable morals" and the question was supposed to be "what is a rake?"

He said "what is a hoe?"

They had to stop the show until Trebek finished laughing.

Here's a clip of that question. I thought there was a lot more hilarity when it happened, but it's still pretty funny.

I think they should have had to give him that one. :lol

Was this yesterday? That was the first time I've missed the show in weeks and this happens. It's probably for the best that I did miss. When I know the answer and the contestants don't I start yelling at the screen and taunting them for being stupid. It's really not all that different from what people people do when they are watching sports and see someone make a stupid play.

"You stupid, useless tubs of crap! The word is "cryogenics." Shit! What the hell is wrong you people?"

To be fair, the name just changed, so not everyone is always up on that. I watch a ton of sports and aren't always up on things like that. Too damn many name changes.

It probably would have been a bigger issue except the score at the time was $14,800 to -$200 to -$600.

Technically he didn't get it because "hoe" and "ho" are different words. The question asked for a single word which reffered to both terms.

I've seen it spelled both ways, but I don't know what the OED would have to say about it. :lmao

Or for that matter what would ODB have to say about it?

Tried out for Jeopardy once ... missed going to the interview round because I couldn't pull Greg Lemond's name out of my ass on an answer ("The first American to win Le Tour du France"). Pissed me off. It's a whole lot easier watching on the tube than doing it under pressure.

Nowadays you can try out on-line, but back then you either had to fly to LA or wait for them to come to town. They showed up in Austin and the line to get a pass was literally blocks long.
