COMMENTS:
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world, had virtually no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world.
What the hell happened?

FDR and the dimm-o-craps. Is what happened. Oh and you left out:
Hospital Taxes
Flood Taxes
And there must be several more. I think Bexar county alone has about 30
taxing authorities.
And BBB is right, the poor old illegals need your hospital taxes to get their
health bennies. I paid my share SA210, did you?

Well, hate to burst your bubble, but being old has one advantage. Only
in a couple of categories for me, but yes, they are going up a bit for me.
Did you read Roddy this morning. He explained it very well, they don't have
to, but the Politicians just love to spend our money, so they never cut
the tax rate. Even when the property value goes up. :madrun

Yea they jacked me up like 30k and I need to paint the house etc. No improvements but a pond that I don't think they know about.
I was going to contest but said beep it... I am gonna sell in a few years and move to Leakey Tx.

Don't forget about the used car property tax that's probably going to pass! Have fun paying blue book value taxes for a title when you scored a car for under 2 grand. I believe the numbers estimated for the differential were around 70%. That means you are paying an average of $500+ on taxes for a $1500 car!
My township in PA has the most amazing tax I've seen:
"Privilege of Working Tax": $55 per year for the "privilege of having a job" - and of course there is also an income tax on top of that.
Also have a "Real Estate Transfer Tax" of 3%; 1.5 each for buyer/seller

Thanks folks
The list came from a CPA friend, who was putting this list in with his clients tax returns
He also thanks ya'll for the ones he missed
We have also added
Community College Taxes
Visitor Taxes on hotel/motel rooms and rental cars---hey, lots of cities have hit on them as a great way to finance that new convention center
The other question that arose is do day use or season passes for city, state and national parks also count as taxes?
